I had some problems to get my Bluetooth headset working with my Debian, the fault was kind of non informative.
In the end I found in some forum that it needs the following lib.
I found this here.
Connection Failed: br-connection-profile-unavailable
This was the only fault shown in the GUI.

I talked with artists and received feedback for our demo. It's slow, but during the interviews, I'm getting more and more tips on approaching creators.
🎯 It looks good. Like actually good. And this feedback makes me happy. I want to make beautiful apps, so I took the time to make WRKS beautiful. Thank you!
🎯 Music videos seem to be the niche where we can add the most value.
Grateful to have been the guest Lecturer on Sound Design yesterday at the Music Technology Lab at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). The lecture was in front of students both live and on Zoom. It was a nice long session with a lot of questions and advice. Special thanks to Martin Raymond for setting this up. Outsourcing koala monitoring to AI sensors, Western Sydney University
"Artificial intelligence tracks male koala mating calls to guide decisions about habitat and populations."
Boots on the ground is a "very costly and labour intensive approach. The current issue is the detectors that we put out now record everything in the soundscape and then someone has got to sit there, listening for where there is a koala in it."
"Labour intensive approach"? Let AI do the search!

Use Reco to Record System Audio & Microphone Input in Ubuntu
Looking to record system sounds and your microphone at the same time on Ubuntu, and save it to a single audio file? Reco is a free, open-source audio recording app for Linux, written in Vala and GTK. Although it’s designed for elementary OS it works well on Ubuntu and other Linux distributions, and doesn’t look too conspicuous on the modern GNOME desktop, either. Better still, Reco is available to install from Flathub. Being able to capture your voice and your system’s audio output (be it game audio, software, music, someone talking in a broadcast) simultaneously is useful for content creation, :sys_more_orange:

3D or Binaural Microphones
These microphones are called 3D or binaural microphones. The idea is to create 3D sound in much the way that your ears do, so you hear things spatially. Very popular with ASMR and concert recording. Handy for podcasters to capture local ambiance.
It’s a tabbed #Qt #mixer. That opens a tab for each installed mixer device. It allows you to configure various #sound settings, like amplification, recording sources, or the default #audio device.
Even when a USB sound card is being added or removed, as long as the DSBMixer was built with devd support.
Late to the party, but #Elektron shipped an OS upgrade to Analog Rytm. I bought this box right when the MKII came out so, the few MKI remaining were on sale. Sweet to see that the upgrade also applies to MKI and that it brings new #sound generators! Like getting a new synth for Christmas, just like that. :dancing_banana:

Audio search engine for Australian wildlife
Using sounds to understand 'how things are changing.
Run audio similarity search on the Australian Acoustic Observatory media archive. A2O Search uses Machine Learning models developed at Google to find similar audio recordings across space and time. It is intended to augment and enable bioacoustics research. The audio search is open source.
Using Google AI and automatic audio recognition, users can upload audio recordings of an animal species, find similar sounds across the database, filter by location and date, and download the results.
I need a bit of tech help please!🙏
I had a Samsung tv and used this ARC converter to connect my speakers. It always worked without any problem.
Today I got a new tv, a Samsung too.
I plugged the converter back, the tv does recognize the HDMI ARC automatically but the speakers are sadly silent.
I plugged, unplugged, turn on/off everything I could think of and in different orders to no avail.
The converter still works with my old tv.
The only difference is that the new tv has 'e-ARC' hdmi instead of just 'ARC'.
Could it be just that? (I'd be pissed if it is).

Mojn Hivemind I'm running Debian 12/bookworm, on AMD, with everything all updated. But some time ago the volume dropped. I have always set the main volume 100% and chrome at 40-50% for a perfect level. But now even if I use the pulseaudio trick of turning it to 11 (150%) and maxing out all other volume settings. The level is still lower than before. I've reinstalled. purged, tried Pipewire, looking in alsamixier. Let Me Google That has hit a wall. Anyone got an idea?
I literally just lightly wiggled the usb cable to my #sound #interface and...thanks #linux! Yes, that's right, I disconnected it! And yes, I want to you silently switch all my settings to point to the HDMI, which isn't hooked up to anything and never has been but *obviously* must be what I want.
And apparently linux further "helped" me by saving all those settings so that even rebooting didn't go back to what I originally had working.
I really hate this operating system sometimes.

Is there any reference you use for listening to bird calls other than All About Birds?
Looking for a high-quality American bird call for the 30% Wild opening (my podcast). Probably a common raven. Birders are part of the target audience for the podcast, so it needs to be recognizable, not just a generic screech.
I'm not above using a hokey monster growl from an online sound archive - but not for this!

Biophony is the collective sound produced by all living organisms that reside in a particular biome. It is not about a 'decontextualized single-species recording model'. Bernie Krause is recording "the “Great Animal Orchestra,” a constantly shapeshifting constellation of individual voices in motion, and he termed their symphonic soundscape a ‘biophony’ — all of the “sounds originating from nonhuman, nondomestic biological sources.”
In 1988 he recorded the so-called selective logging of a timber company:
"The outcome was a spectrogram with a remarkable density throughout all frequency bands, as could be expected for a habitat replete with the most diverse animal life. In 1989, he returned to the meadow after the operation had been completed for a second session under the exact same conditions and at the exact same time. In keeping with what had been promised by the logging company, the place still looked as though it was teeming with life — “I was delighted to see that little seemed to have changed,” as Krause remarked. Back in the studio and after a look at his spectrogram, he had to revise that impression: “Gone was the thriving density and diversity of birds. Gone, too, was the overall richness that had been present the year before. The only prominent sounds were the stream and hammering of a Williamson’s sapsucker.” The ear, then, turned out to be capable of detecting the true state of the habitat much more precisely and truthfully than the eye ever could."
"The recurring pattern seemed to be that the ‘evil sounding’ spaces were those devoid of animal noises, while those full of life and sound tended to come across as far more agreeable"

I seem to have lost my Google-fu on this one - failing to find the right search terms:
Assuming yes, is the #fidelity better when the track is going past the needle/laser faster, as I guess you're getting more information from the track in a shorter time? Or do the record and CD #tracks somehow calibrate for this?

My laptop, now on #Debian #bookworm, (and #PipeWire "just works". That is, music plays either via the local speaker, a USB Audio device, a Headphone, a USB headphone (one of those used for video calls), one or two bluetooth connected speakers or, now also, via HDMI. Without a hassle. It even remembers things when I plug/unplug. It lets me easily (KDE, something in the task bar) change stuff around, and it also has no problem to have one source push to multiple of the targets - at home music usually goes to two at the same time. You can even easily adjust the delay that one of them needs.
No long fiddling with any setup, magic or tools, it just works.
(Compared to the customer laptop that runs a recent copy of the #Windows fuckup that #microsoft dares to name "Operating system" - that one is overburdened just dealing with local speaker and usb headphones and breaks on that often enough). No idea why anyone uses that crap system.
