I fought a Guile in Ranked with a 22-win streak, gave him his 23rd and then managed to win the next 2! 😀
A.K.I. is so weird to play x.x the timing of her combos especially I’m struggling with. I also don’t know yet what my endgame/round scenario is with her. She’s not really clicking yet but I wanna keep trying #StreetFighter6

I was playing around in #StreetFighter6 doing AKI's World Tour quest and I discovered something I did not know thought the entire WT grind: There's a dash command that lets your character run faster. So much traversal time...
Anyway. AKI is cool and fun. Try her out!
I stayed up to play #StreetFighter6's newest character, A.K.I., and she's really fun!
She's has a zoning game that feels a bit like playing as JP or Dhalsim, but the poison mechanic gives her a more game-y incentive to pivot to taking an exchange in the mid-range.
The life loss from being poisoned seems well-tuned. I didn't feel like it was totally warping my gameplan, but I did feel the pressure. And, because A.K.I.'s damage is low without it, it seems mandatory.

It really frustrates me how there are barely any Street Fighter locals where I live... The closest ones are an hour and a half away, and I don't feel like driving that far to go 4-2.

If you're mindful and practicing at the edge of your ability, you're going to lose—it's natural and integral to getting better. LP in any given moment doesn't necessarily capture this. This is why for a time, I was measuring League Points movement (LPM) during my #StreetFighter6 ranked sessions, because it helped me remember that playing the game is what I wanted, in terms of recreation and challenge, and I wanted a metric that was more tightly tuned to that objective.
The next boundary in #StreetFighter6 was mindset. I knew that improvement would require raw-but-quality time in matches, and spending a lot of time in Ranked is sometimes a real test of willpower. For me, this was the toughest barrier in Silver and into Gold.

Next up, it's everyone's favourite villain, #SF6_JP #StreetFighter6
Placed D1, and my experience with this character was really strange.
Initially, I could not vibe with him at all and struggled to win against relative beginners. The more I played him, however, the more things started to click, and he's actually quite fun!
Don't think I'll play him that much more, though. Ultimately not really my kind of character, and come that S2 patch he is getting all of his organs removed.

So I went to the store today and I saw they had the "deluxe" edtion of #mk1 I did not see any standard copies on hand so I found the tech guy. He told me to get the game now you need to buy the deluxe or collector's edition. The basic copy isn't out until Tuesday. I have to give credit to #WBGames for not only making me lose all interest in this game, but actually making me consider get the #StreetFighter6 dlc instead. Talk about stupid marketing...

Next to Lily, Luke might be my single least favourite character in the game. Both his buttons and combo routes are finicky, gimmicky and unintuitive.
From a design perspective, I'm not sure why you'd go to make him the next new poster boy, but then make all his buttons function differently from the rest of the cast? Like, what?

Kim is in a very unfortunate place where she has good stuff, but even moreso than other examples, is completely and utterly overshadowed by Ken. There is genuinely zero point to playing her over Ken at the moment outside of investing experience for when she's buffed in future. Sad stuff.

not much to say on Juri, she's kinda just slightly worse Ken in a game where Ken does everything really well, so yeah just play Ken. Noticing a pattern here
had a lot of trouble w/ her DP AA, they'd either fly over or under, but never had an easier time punishing silly corner neutral jumps

Placed an unsurprising D1 w/ M controls, and - gonna be honest - I do not like Honda. He feels like worse Blanka for people who should be playing Marisa.
Absolute menace when you don't know the matchup, but even when you don't, he still has to commit hard and guess correctly to actually kill you.

Dear #StreetFighter6 diary—went to my first local tournament a few nights ago and had a good time. There were only five players, so we just did round-robin, best record wins.
The most interesting bit competitively was how many little things there were to invade your mental. Controllers in and out, registering the controller to a profile on the PS5 (my first time not on PC), button checks on each setup, the waves of heat off the PS5.
Went 1-3. I'm going to try to make it back next time!

Jamie is good, he has great buttons, great pressure, great ways to build his resource. Jamie players might be some of the most severe downplayers I've ever seen. He just doesn't have a lot of representation at the moment, because if you're playing to WIN win why wouldn't you pick Ken instead?

Had two high P's I mopped the floor with, then two high D's I went close with but ultimately lost 0-2 to, and then a P1.
Blanka is good, fun, and pretty easy to pick up with M, but might be the first M char I've played that's actively worse w/ M controls, given that he loses some important tools, and doesn't get an instant single button DP.
I really like A.K.I., she reminds me of Gen from SF4

#StreetFighter6 diary update: I'm a few wins into 5⭐ Gold, facing a lot of 1⭐ Platinum players, and I'm feeling the challenge level ratchet up. My relatively comfortable matchups are uncomfortable once again as folks play more cautiously and deliver stronger counterplay.
I'm happily back to nailing 2 to 3 of Manon's command throws per game, and in ranked it feels earned, like I am actively engaged in the conditioning that creates those down-back openings.

Initially, I gave up on Cammy, as low damage + limited experience means you can really struggle to overpower more crazy explosive playstyles and characters, but she is very very good, with fantastic neutral and conversions. Simple and effective gameplan, but not very explosive.

I really appreciated in that moment how expressive fighting games can be. There's room in the #StreetFighter6 design for players to discover what's effective, line it up with an approach that works for them, and be rewarded for playing their character differently.
Dear #StreetFighter6 diary—some time ago, I noticed that my opponents would forward dash a lot more compared to me. I had labbed dash for some specific scenarios―like after a knockdown—but otherwise, I wasn't deploying it much in neutral as Manon.
I came to realize that I was afraid of it; I felt like my dash was just going to get checked. But, I also had a sense that it needed to become part of my game, because Manon benefits from being in throw range.
Dear #SF6 diary—you're now also a #SamuraiShowdown diary of sorts, because I've been dabbling in that some evenings with a fellow enthusiast. The weapons allow for expressive character designs, and it's less sweaty than Street Fighter at the moment.
Speaking of #StreetFighter6: I recently made it to the Gold 4 rank, which is a nice marker of progress. I'd attribute at least some of it to more consistent counter DI, and better, situationally appropriate uses of st.MP and st.MK in neutral.
There’s no such thing as perfect when it comes to accessibility, but a concerted effort towards progress can lead to wonderful things.

...also been getting a lot of people leaving after I win G1, as you can see from the image! Fought 5 Ryus in a row and only one of them played past me winning G1!
I wonder if a good solution to fixing this would be to have it so leaving an incomplete set loses you ~15LP. This is a low amount of points, which is fine if you need to leave quickly, but stops people leaving early to try optimize points
Dear #StreetFighter6 diary—I've become overly wary of using Manon's command throw. I've ended a handful of recent matches with only one medal! But, it feels like there's a purpose behind this; I've been deconstructing my habits in order to develop a semblance of a neutral game, and I'm doing *that* in order to make the throw more viable in the long run.
And it's funny how much Manège Doré now feels like a whole new move I'm learning, because the context for deploying it has changed so much.

every single set is either losing 1-2/0-2, OR they bounce the second you win a set. luckily with how generous it is with points vs higher ranks you can still climb, but MAN is it a slog.
I really don't understand why you'd let players do this without a penalty? Like, why reward poor sportsmanship?

I'm Marc, from #Toronto. I've been an #anime fan longer than I can remember. Literally. My first memories of watching anime aren't correct, based on the info available online. It was definitely the Canadian dub of Astro Boy, though.
I'm currently trying to balance watching a massive backlog of #movies from classics to legendarily bad (shoutout to #CineMastodon), with watching a massive backlog of anime, mostly trying to avoid the bad. For #AniMonday, I'm watching an episode each week from four classic series that I haven't seen before.
I regularly play #MSFS, #ForzaHorizon, and #StreetFighter6. And I try #streaming games that are new to me once a week.
Capcom announced a "collab" of their titles #StreetFighter6 and #Exporimal. Probably would be more exciting if I had ever heard of Exoprimal before. 😅
