In the 1980’s/1990’s you could pretty much get around the whole city for free, if you used your wits. Using the Silverlink overground was one of my methods. The stations weren’t manned for the most part. If they were the staff didn’t care. They were run down stations & crumbling outdated trains, often interesting interactions went down. I didn’t care for they had character with feeling + memories attached.
