On a somewhat sandy and rocky patch of earth, clusters of green grass and wildflowers are backlit by the July evening sun. The sky is a soft blue with a broken line of hazy fair weather clouds near the horizon and another just along the horizon. The sun is a huge formless blob of bright yellow through the haze. We are atop a small rise of land a few dozen feet above a large lake, a bright sliver of which can just be glimpsed over the top of the rise. Other than this patch of open ground and the unseen dam, the rest of the lake is surrounded by forest.

The far shore of the lake is wooded. Although the lake is only gently rippled by a soft breeze, dark and dramatic clouds are streaming past at low levels beneath a high hazy overcast. The rays of the setting sun are breaking through in a few spots, painting some of the clouds orange and gold.

We are alongside the shore of a lake. The flat ground in front of us is covered with small bright green leady shoots speckled with hundreds of little yellow flowers. Several dark gray boulders rise above this low ground cover in the foreground. The far lakeshore has a wide strip of these plants, which resemble grass from a distance.
