This picture is mostly sky. The silhouetted crest of a low ridge frames the bottom, a silhouetted pine tree frames the left side. The tops of 2 other trees barely poke into the frame. Walking a dirt and gravel path beside a large lake. The path is raised about 10 or 15 feet above the lake to our right and a flat stretch of grass to our left. The right shoulder of the path slopes steeply down to the lake and is covered with a wild profusion of leafy shrubs and wildflowers. The left shoulder slopes steeply down to that grassy area, which has been recently mown. The opposite shore is heavily wooded. It is post sunset, the sky is filled with thin clouds streaming past us tinted bright pink and darker purple from beyond the horizon by the rays of the sun. All this is mirrored on the gently rippled lake surface.

It was a beautiful evening, post-sunset, on this evening at the beach. The water was a turquoise blue & the sky a pastel pink which was reflected in the wet sand along the beach. And to top off the scene, a lone shorebird was seen searching for dinner as it walked along the shoreline.

We are standing close to a lake. Between us and the lake is a small thicket of cattails, tall grasses, daisies and yellow wildflowers. The far shore of the lake is wooded. The sky is mostly clouded up except for a break near the horizon where the sky is gold tinted from the recently set sun. The sun is painting the bottoms of the clouds purple with dramatic streaks of fiery orange near the horizon and dark pink above us. All of this is mirrored on the slightly rippled surface of the lake below.

We are sitting atop a rocky cliff partway up a mountain. A gnarled evergreen shrub with much of its extensive array of roots exposed by erosion is growing beside us. Standing on the shore of a small cove on a large lake. A narrow peninsula is maybe 50 feet away across the water. It is covered with tall trees, as is a second peninsula beyond to the right across a small channel of water. These two peninsulas form the cove. There are a few hemlocks on the peninsulas, the rest of the trees are hardwoods that have lost most of their leaves. Those that remain are brick red or golden brown past peak colors. A gaggle of ten geese is swimming on the cove. Eight of them are feeding, their heads below the water. The two geese on the right and left are keeping watch for danger. The breathtaking beauty of an Arizona sunset is famed, far and wide. A quiet walk along the trails of the Sonoran Desert when such a vision is before you, is something you'll never forget.

Along the path we see various kinds of cactus from the iconic Saguaro, to prickly pear, to my artistic interpretation of the jumping Cholla. But it's the glorious colors of the sunset that draw us onward! I must say, when i was in Arizona (where I took the blue-sky morning photo on which this is based) the sunsets were pretty scarce. But we get some doozies here in the Shenandoah Valley, too!! The sunset I painted here is based on a fabulous class I just took with #CorelPainter Master, Karen Bonaker.

We are alongside the shore of a lake. The flat ground in front of us is covered with small bright green leady shoots speckled with hundreds of little yellow flowers. Several dark gray boulders rise above this low ground cover in the foreground. The far lakeshore has a wide strip of these plants, which resemble grass from a distance. Beyond that strip, a low wooded ridge rises. The sun is low in the sky not far above that ridge, partially burning through the haze and looking enormous. The sky is a swirl of thin clouds and haze around the sun, tinted pale orange and gold. The sky and far shore are mirrored on the dead clam lake surface.

Earlier thunderstorms that had blanketed West Coast Florida had moved offshore to rain themselves out over the Gulf of Mexico. The dissipating clouds created a veil of rain over the sun and Gulf waters and turned the seas and sky a scarlet orange.

We are standing on low, rather flat ground near the shore of a lake. The ground is covered with bright green plants that are currently sprouting hundreds of tiny yellow flowers. There are many scattered gray rocks and boulders poking through the ground cover. The far shore of the lake is also covered with a wide strip of these plants, which resemble grass from this distance. Beyond that strip is a low forested ridge. Above that is a single large cloud tinted orange, gold and dark purple from the setting sun. The rest of the sky is pale blue gray.

Beneath a gray blue sky with clouds and haze painted orange and gold by the sunset, we are on the shore of a large lake watching the scene over a cluster of leafy shoots and some strands of floating vegetation.The breeze is blowing towards us, sending ripples on the lake surface our way. A wooded peninsula is to our left, a small wooded island to our right. Between them we see the wooded far lakeshore. The sun is setting behind it, burning through some haze making it look several times its actual size, but blocking little of its light.

We are standing in a marshy area along the shore of a beaver pond. It is a very calm day, the surface is barely rippled. Near the far shore of the pond you can see a beaver lodge made of sticks and mud. There are several pines and hemlocks in the forest surrounding the pond, but the majority of trees are hardwoods that remain leafless at this early stage of spring. Most of the water grasses near the shores of the pond are golden brown and dormant, but in the foreground some clumps of sedge are throwing out the first bright green shoots of spring. The sky is a pale blue with many dark clouds streaming across. The setting sun has tinted the horizon and the bottoms of many of the clouds in bright orange and gold.

#Arizona #sunsets seem to be on a jag lately of color divisions/progressions that I don't really understand. 🤨 Nor can I seem to capture them very realistically with a cheap camera phone, yet still trying. 🤷‍♀️ Good night to all.

A lone pelican was photographed through the fronds of a Florida palm, flying away from the camera and making his way home to roost before dark. A beautiful orange, cloud-filled sky and a yellow setting sun were a nice way to end the day.

A sunset scene, with a view over a body of water. The upper part of the sky is blue, while there are subtle oranges and pinks closer to the horizon. The colors of the sunset reflect in the water in the foreground, which is very still, almost mirror-like. Bits of land in the foreground, and islands further out, appear black against the colors of the water and sky.

Arriving at the beach for sunset this particular night, we were surprised to see such a scene of total tranquility. There was barely a wave visible in the blue-green Gulf waters. Loved the ripples and textures in the beach sand created by the ebb and flow of the tide.

This is a photograph I took of a sunset on local bay waters seen at low tide. I liked the tidal pools and textures created from the ebb of the tide with the perfect mangrove overhang to frame the scene.

There were many stunning #sunsets on the #MoonRiver, #GeorgianBay #Ontario Canada, but this one was just incredible.The heavens were glowing with the rich hues of orange, red, yellow, blue and purple, the calm river reflected the fiery #clouds and sky, the trees and grasses were in #silhouette and the scene was #magical.
