Another update.
It's taking more time than expected, working on so (too!) many stuff in parallel...
I made a few stress tests and asked friends with fast internet if things load quick (everything is a hassle to load for my poor broadband internet BUT my website loads quite fast anyway on it compared to most websites); and I can confirm I'll keep this tech stack: #Tailwind + #Svelte / #SvelteKit + API on #Directus. The SvelteKit part ran like a charm on a #RaspberryPi.
@davatron5000 @collinsworth This is an interesting read, though I wonder if this has less to do with compile steps and more to do with authoring format?
You talk about vendor lock-in for the compiler, but I feel the lock-in has more to do with the way you are authoring code. That anything inside a .vue or .svelte file is inherently coupled to those frameworks and is "more locked-in" than something like #Lit. That seems independent of whether or not a compiler is being run.
For example, how would you feel if #Vue or #Svelte shipped your raw templates and interpreted them at runtime? Would that be less locked-in, even though you're writing the same code? What about if Lit *required* a compiler, but otherwise was authored the same way?
I personally always disliked frameworks that fork the #JavaScript language to achieve their ends (ex. framework-specific file extensions or #JSX). I think you're describing a very similar emotional reaction I feel to those FWs, I wonder if it's the same?

There is probably no need to swap out `eslint-plugin-svelte3` for `eslint-plugin-svelte` immediately. But if you want to update, be prepared for some linting surprises.

It's an interesting route, and I didn't see much projects that would move away from #TypeScript to #JSDoc type hints. I tried writing generics in it some months ago and didn't find this experience pleasing at all. But I hope this doesn't serve as a limitation for making #Svelte type-safe.
@fdrc_ck #Svelte is the new hotness very few are talking about. It doesn't use a virtual DOM like React and Vue do and is as much of a gamechanger as the virtual DOM was. SolidJS may win ultimately but Svelte has made me fall in love with making html pages again
In a few years everyone will be using Svelte to build web pages. Like the Rust vs C++ discussion, Svelte eliminates a whole class of problems that exist for React and Vue. SvelteKit is like NextJS. full Typescript support and doesn't need the massive ecosystem React and Vue have to be just as powerful. Will only want to use Svelte from now on.

@jbutz For a library like #Svelte, the benefit is to eliminate the transpile step for #TypeScript. For end users, Svelte will still be fully typed, but debugging is easier because the code you write is the code you ship.

AngularJS 1 gets a lot of flack, but I think it had the right vision.
To me, Svelte feels like that vision executed successfully.

It's #LiveView but where LV is only streaming data into #Svelte components. I haven't tried Svelte myself but it looks like an interesting approach of combining server side and client side reactivity.
The downside is that you can't write your components in Elixir. The upside is you still don't have to write an explicit API between your frontend and backend code.
Speaking of animations, #Svelte made it ridiculously easy to add these crossfade transitions. I never tried implementing this in #React because it seemed so difficult.
