Fun fact: the people who view me as a woman are equally as wrong as the people who view me as a man and are even equally as wrong as the people who view me as nonbinary.
I'm agender. I deny the entire structure. The concept and structures of gender have only ever been used to enact violence on me from both people I've been close with and total strangers. The violence has ranged from behaviors and appearances put upon me by antagonistic "teasing," to actual physical violence for lack of conformation. Consequently, I view denying it wholesale is a reclamation of autonomy of identity in the same way that that tattoos are a reclamation of my bodily autonomy.
That said, I encourage the perspective of woman because that's the most interesting spot in the continuum of the concept of gender from a behavioral and aesthetic standpoint for me in terms of a strict performance, but I'm no more woman than anything else.

Tattoos are how I mark states of being and "staple" my sense of self into my body - the first one, the bite mark, is in a very real way the first baby step I took to transitioning. It was the first time I felt good about something about myself, and now, a couple years later on estrogen, and a bunch more tattoos (and even more planned), I feel good about so many things.
I don't think it's a coincidence that so many things that are counterculture or taboo in society are exactly the things that help people feel a sense of bodily autonomy. I'm sure there are links to capitalism here, but more deeply I think it's about jealousy and hate.
Jealousy from generational trauma that denied our parents and grandparents ad nausem their own (bodily) autonomy, so they projected that onto us so we wouldn't pursue it ourselves, queer or not.
Hate partially stems from the jealousy, but people are also taught to hate these things by many, many social institutions which demand obedience. Religion is one such institution for many, especially evangelical religions, but is not the only such institution. Class structures frequently use things like prohibitions or mandatory body modifications as a way of co-opting what would otherwise be a sense of freedom.
Bodily autonomy is dangerous to systems of control and obedience, because it's the root of freedom of thought, or at least that's what my years of doing trauma work have taught me. When you have time and ability to decide what to do with yourself, you start to form a deeper connection with yourself and others because it's actually safe to do so.
And I think this is sad on many levels. So, don't be sad go get a tattoo.

We got these because we wanted something that was meaningful to us. We'd seen plane #tattoos signifying #LongDistanceRelationships, and Greg is a bit of a space geek.. so a rocket/planet piece seemed like a fun riff on that.
We decided I'd have the planet because one of the incredibly romantic and loving things he does is, after not seeing each other for 6 months (3 years during covid), and we finally get to have sex again, is he always makes a comment about finally being home again.. and I like the idea that he finds 'home' when he's with me. Especially being #NonMonogamous, it would be easy to feel like his home with his wife is more than his home with me.. but it's not. We're both home.
I also feel that the rocket/planet thing fits with #NonMonogamy, because you can have more than one rocket visiting a planet, and more than one planet visited by a rocket.. it's not a 'you're my other half' type of image.
We wanted the pieces to link, but not be identical. We wanted it so that when we held hands they lined up together.
We wanted cutesy, and the whole fairy, unicorn, glitter, and rainbows vibe.
I think the artist (SamSparkels) hit the brief perfectly, and I absolutely love both pieces!
My wife and I got matching #tattoos today. It is the classic Book It! logo from our youth. We plan on reading books, and then adding stars based on how many books we read.
