On Tuesday I'm flying from London to Portland, Oregon to attend #FOSSY.
My last visit to Portland was twelve years ago in March 2011. Here's a photo of me on that visit and the Alaska Airlines Dash 8 turboprop that took me back to San Francisco.
The refreshments table includes boxes of powdered milk. I've never seen this before at a conference. Is this a French thing?
I'm not adventurous enough to try the powdered milk.
I'm drinking blank coffee.
This conference has power strips next to the seats, taped to the floor. Very handy.
The FOSSY conference (Free and Open Source Software Yearly) is happening in 10 days time in Portland, Oregon. This is the first in the series.
I'll be talking about #Wikidata and #OpenStreetMap.

I've booked my flights to Portland, Oregon for #FOSSY, the Free and Open Source Software Yearly conference. It is happening in July and it is the first one.
FOSSY is modelled on #FOSDEM. I've got a feeling that it is going to be a big deal.
Being on #mastodon feels a bit like an in-person #TechConference - the frenetic energy and #conversations, the chance encounters, laughter, and positive momentum.
I still want those genuine, in-person conferences but this is the closest I've felt to one in a long time.
I really hope it maintains this atmosphere and look forward to the conversations, synergies, and creations yet to come!
PS for those non-techies, you all make it even better, I love interacting with folks from all backgrounds
