Time for Tessellation #quilt prototype tile layout below. This is an exploded #tessellation, and so far, it's my favorite, because it shows more of the quilt top. #hackerboxes control tile goes in the center.
I am going to do the anchor points for the control tile now. I'm using a historical sail eyelet model and built-in stitches on the #sewing machine to achieve the reinforced holes. Need a good thread to suspend the control tile and provide strain relief for the flexible wire that will route through these holes. Something neutral is what I am looking for.
The control tile will be able to move, therefore utilizing the #accelerometer to change the pattern of the circle of fifths #music #theory theme.

For prime numbers, this decomposition led to a new classification of primes. Primes classified by weight follow Legendre conjecture and i conjecture that primes classified by level rarefy. I think this conjecture is very important for the distribution of primes.
It's easy to see and prove that lesser of twin primes (>3) have a weight of 3. So the twin primes conjecture can be rewritten: there are infinitely many primes that have a weight of 3.
I am not mathematician so i decompose sequences to promote my vision of numbers. By doing these decompositions, i apply a kind of sieve on each sequences.

#Money, Buchanan knew, can be a persuasive tool in academia. His circle of influence began to widen.
MacLean observes that the #Virginia #school, as Buchanan’s brand of economic and political thinking is known, is a kind of cousin to the better-known, market-oriented #Chicago and #Austrian schools — proponents of all three were members of the #Mont #Pelerin #Society, an international neoliberal organization which included Milton #Friedman and Friedrich #Hayek.
But the Virginia school’s focus and career missions were distinct. In an interview with the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), MacLean described Friedman and Buchanan as yin and yang:
“Friedman was this genial, personable character who loved to be in the limelight and made a sunny case for the free market and the freedom to choose and so forth.
"Buchanan was the dark side of this: he thought, ok, fine, they can make a case for the free market, but everybody knows that free markets have externalities and other problems. So he wanted to keep people from believing that government could be the alternative to those problems.”
The Virginia school also differs from other economic schools in a marked reliance on #abstract #theory rather than #mathematics or empirical #evidence.
That a Nobel Prize was awarded in 1986 to an economist who so determinedly bucked the academic trends of his day was nothing short of stunning, MacLean observes. But, then, it was the peak of the #Reagan era, an administration several Buchanan students joined.
Buchanan’s school focused on *public choice theory*, later adding constitutional economics and the new field of law and economics to its core research and advocacy.
The economist saw that his vision would never come to fruition by focusing on *who rules. It was much better to focus on the rules themselves, and that required a “#constitutional #revolution.”

At this point, I don't think it's much of a secret that I believe we're living in a rigged oligarchy, and that the only reasonable way to stop the capitalism that's boiling the Earth and threatens to kill us all, is some form of mass action; a revolution if you will, bloodless if possible, but by whatever means are necessary to save billions on lives. This is not because I lack faith in democratic processes, but rather because, especially as an American, I do not recognize life in the modern Pig Empire as democratic in any honest sense of the word. Despite this however, I have long been an advocate for exercising whatever levers of power are available to us within a faux-democratic oligarchy; if only to avoid ceding the ground, and presumed legitimacy, to the fascists who mean to kill us all. A rigged democracy, controlled by the rich, is not going to be the vehicle by which we end capitalism and save the human species; but that doesn't mean it can't be used to slow down the fascist creep, or the blind rush over the ecological cliff that fascism is designed to ensure.
In that vein then, I'd like to take a look at this Guardian piece by Steven Donziger, about the referendum in Ecuador that recently approved a total ban against oil drilling on protected land in the Amazon.

The short story here, is that for the first time in history, a democratic referendum is now going to force a major oil company (Petroecuador) to stop drilling, pack up its shit, and leave a 60,000 barrel a day oil field; thanks to the democratic will of the people of Ecuador, and in a decision that has major impact on protecting the lives, homes, and traditions of Indigenous peoples in the Yasuní. This is, in its own right amazing and unprecedented news, but as our author notes, this referendum also has the potential to affect the fight against extractivism and the climate catastrophe its leading us into, across much of the globe. The movement to pass this referendum, is a model we may be able to copy in a very ad hoc, by location sort of way.
What I like about Donziger's writing here however, is that he's not selling an unrealistic ideal of what Pig Empire "democracy" actually is, or what it can achieve. The author notes the vast capitalist machine we are up against, particularly in what many would call the West, and he's speaking from experience as a man whose life and personal freedom were threatened by Chevron and complicit state actors in business with fossil fuel companies. Indeed, some of the most important passages in this article talk about the entwined assault on democratic rights at the ballot box, and in the streets, that surrounds state repression of the Stop Cop City protesters and forest defenders:
"As a result, many Americans who have committed peaceful acts of non-violent civil disobedience – central to the birth of our country and a cornerstone of our political tradition – now face decades in prison. In Atlanta, Georgia, 42 people have been charged by prosecutors with “domestic terrorism” for trying to save the city’s last green canopy in the Weelaunee forest. Local police are trying to raze part of the forest to build a military-style police training academy, colloquially called “Cop City”, that already resulted in the first police killing of a climate activist in US history... The prosecutions in Georgia are also occurring in a broader context where the right to vote has been seriously impaired. Voter suppression is now a regular feature in many US states, with ludicrous laws being passed to throw out votes. In this short century, two presidents have taken office in the US who did not win the popular vote. Votes are constantly thrown out for the thinnest of reasons, as journalists such as Greg Palast have meticulously documented."
You really should read the whole article, but for now my message to those of you who insist that we pursue only political paths towards change; what is your answer, to this anti-democratic machine, and what concrete results can you promise me if your efforts are successful? If you can't answer those questions, I don't see why we should take you seriously. Yes, the people of Ecuador have show us an effective model for applying democratic pressure to the fight against world-destroying capitalism, but as the author notes, that model does not at all look like "vote for liberals and hope it works out." I love democracy; now tell me how we get some, and stop pretending we already have it - and be quick about it, because we're running out of time on a boiling planet, where rich people own everything, including our governments.
One of the reasons this makes me nervous is that it’s so wildly anti-process, so very outcome-driven.

The cosmography of Ho'oleilana is pretty amazing: its shell includes some of the largest known structures of the universe: the Sloan Great Wall, CfA Great Wall, Hercules Supercluster, Corona-Borealis Supercluster... At its core is the Boötes Supercluster.

This is basically all you need to know to understand how aperture and depth of field work, or rather why they work the way they do.
Deriving practical use cases from this takes some mental gymnastics so we typically don't think about it on this level.
We just say "smaller aperture (higher f number) makes more of the subject around the focus distance appear in focus", but the reason it does that is it makes more of the those circles near the focus distance small enough to register as sharp points on our pixels or film grains.
Here's a little unintuitive piece of #photography #theory:
You might assume that the right half of an image goes through the right side of the lens, the left part through the left side, etc, but it doesn't.
Every point in your image goes through every point across the lens opening, generally speaking (exceptions apply).
Every point on your subject emits or reflects light, in all directions. The lens captures the part that hits its entire surface and focusses it back into one point on your sensor/film. And it does that for every point simultaneously.
When a point in front of the camera is out of focus, it means that it doesn't get fully focused back into a point on the sensor/film plane but instead becomes a circle.
The aperture iris of the lens then restricts how much of each circle passes through at their widest point, making the circles that don't get reduces to a point smaller, resulting in less pronounced blur.
That's also why "bokeh" has the shape of the aperture iris.

Are there better preprint servers than #bioRxiv? Every time I try to post something to #bioRxiv, I have to fight with them that a paper doing new analyses on real data is a "real paper" just because we also do a good job of placing our results in the literature.
Moreover, #bioRxiv has an explicit policy that new theoretical insights are "not suitable for posting" (meaning they don't think theory is a real contribution to the literature), which is bad for science. What are the better other options?
It's almost (almost) as bad as fighting with editorial desk-rejections at a real journal.
