Softball, aka 'blooperball' aka slowpitch, in the park behind my house today is unique. All female, all Muslim, most in hijabs. It's a decent sized tournament, lots of cheering and tons of fun, it seems. I've never seen prize/gift bags laid out before a tournament. By the way, there are four mosques within easy walking distance of my house. I love this area for its diversity.

Everybody is waiting for the "trickle down" from all the tax cuts and privatisation and all we seem to get is accelerated urban decay.

@c_9 today was my last day in office. Our lease ends end of May. For 5 years I had a second floor view of the King/Church intersection. I celebrated when the pilot was approved and implemented. Overjoyed when initial data came back saying that streetcar times improved with minimal impact to traffic and businesses.

I despaired when I saw cars blatantly ignoring the signage. I grew weary when the police stopped patrolling King St. altogether.

#Toronto, the city of half measures. Good riddance.

Hey, remember when we had a King Street Transitway and streetcars containing hundreds of people were more important than private cars containing one person? Yeah, that was a nice few months.

@britt for what it's worth, the secret to a UHaul move is to CALL the store directly. Only the actual on-site agent can reserve a truck. The online web portal has absolutely zero guarantees.

On a move out from #toronto, my booking got cancelled and re-booked (morning of the move) from a store 5 minutes walk away, to a laundry repair shop an hour away.

When I got there, the guy had three bookings and only one van. I got the keys because I hauled ass and happened to be first.

Every election I've voted on over the decades, you're handed a one-page form with the candidates listed and you go behind a screen and make your choice (usually with an X in a box or circle) for who your pick is, then that form is blindly processed by a machine that tabulates it.

Last I heard, the upcoming Toronto mayoral by-election still had *over 100* candidates.

Does this mean we're going to be handed a multi-page form to go through and make our pick on?
