My favorite kind of #trading month is when I have <50% winning percentage and it's a profitable month. Some of my best month's are when it reaches 50%, but in general, keeping it in 45-50% range and coming out with a profit is fantastic. I don't want a trading strategy where I need to be right majority of the time.

I saw an ad for SurgeTrader the other day, and I can't seem to find any gotchas with their approach:

I played yesterday, but due to some unexpected surprises, the review is super-late today.

The sixth review for this month's Humble Choice bundle is Merchant of the Skies. It has airships! It has floating sky islands! It has trading! It has pixel-art... again?

This time, your in-game avatar is literally Lemming-sized pixels (ask your great-grandparent).

I was initially frustrated by encountering another pixel-art game, but Merchant of the Skies had other frustrations in store.

This is not a game that teaches you how to play it; when I was as exhausted as I was feeling last night, poking around at things trying to understand what it was I was supposed to do did not spark joy.

Oddly enough, as I kept poking away at it, trying to run down the clock, the underlying gameplay mechanics began to reveal themselves, and the gameplay was enough to keep me playing for 45 minutes.

This is the kind of thing I was talking about in my Kraken Academy!! review. Pixel art isn't a bad thing, per se, if the gameplay supports it, and in the case of Merchant of the Skies, it works.

To the game itself. You have inherited an airship, and your job is to fly from island to island, on a top-down map, buying and selling things, and trading your way to untold riches.

It's basically a capitalism/work simulator. At first, unlocking the map and finding different islands felt interesting, but it became monotonous fairly quickly.

There are no enemies to attack you in the air, no air piracy. The only real challenges are trying not to run out of gold, and trying to make it to the nearest island without running out of energy, because if your airship runs out of energy, you're doomed!

Actually, you're not. You just get towed to the nearest energy station to buy a refill.

Unfortunately for Merchant of the Skies, there are other capitalism simulators that are more fun.

But kudos for rising above the pixel art, in any case.

I reviewed my #trading "mistake log" from last year this morning. Oooff did I feel bad reading it. Incredible how many similar mistakes I kept on making, pretty much until I became religious about maintaining the mistake log.

In one note, it looks like I had been staying pretty disciplined but eeking out small wins here and there, nothing to be proud of, just griding. And then in one morning, pretty much impulsively out of the blue, entered three trades and got wrecked on all three of them...

In #trading I stopped taking action in anticipation of something. Prepare x3 but don't pull the trigger.

The lesson continues to reward. I was considering selling all of my trading positions before going on a trip beginning of June anticipating two things: 1) market is due for pullback 2) I will not have time to do my scans and keep an eye on positions.

Neither came to fruition. Market stayed hot. I had time and had the best month profit wise this year.

An aggregated version of this indicator will be implemented in the near future as well. A similar indicator with OI delta instead of liquidations is on the to-do list as well.

This account about trading stocks and options isn't followed too heavily, but I'd like to write more long form blog posts rather than stuffing information into multiple toots in a thread. Perhaps a newsletter email from that too.

I'm looking at Ghost Pro for $9-11/month or Substack (custom domain is expensive). Beehiiv looks too complicated. WordPress.com is super expensive. Static blogs like Hugo are dirt cheap but then there's no newsletter component.

Ideas?

Not much to say about #AMD outside of that huge gap up after #NVDA earnings. Wow. 📈

Options data is likely going to be messy on AMD today and tomorrow as people take profits and contracts get assigned.

Dark pool sentiment for #AMD is still positive and the biggest dark pool level for the moment is $107.46 (by a lot).

Some bearish dark pool trades came through last night for AMD and NVDA, so exercise caution playing here at the top. Many traders will want to take profits, some will get greedy, and AI is uncharted territory.

The market will likely pick winners in the AI race and will likely pick them violently. Just don't find yourself without a chair when the music stops.

One issue when you use your own system for #stock #trading is this pull to tinker with code, UI, features when you have the actual market prep to do.

Here I am mucking around with a button styling in one of the areas while it's almost Sunday 9PM and I haven't done my weekend review!!! (and I am tooting, 🤭 )

Great last paragraph in Callum Thomas newsletter on the markets:

"If it were clear, simple, and easy, we would have broken out (or down) already. I think what it’s simply going to take is a little more patience — we’ve grown used to things happening fast in the past couple of years, but that’s historically unusual.

That means more debate, more ranging, and more attention to the charts & data."

Finally finished Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61265103-reminiscences-of-a-stock-operator)

Loved it. And what a unique book. Written in early 1900s about a very famous stock trader. Written in his voice, but it's a fictional book that combines many TRUE facts/ideas about stock trading.

Old, but applies to today's world. True statements, but it's a fictional book. Reads like an autobiography, but it's not one.

I don't think I have ever read anything like this.
