Since I have recently rediscovered traditional aquarelle painting for myself, here is another small work (and a few colour and composing tests).

It's a beach inspired by a photo I found on unsplash of Luskentyre Beach on the Isles of Harris – man, I'd love to go there sometime, it looks absolutely stunning. (My painting doesn't do it justice.)

My second attempt with #Gouache and I’m really enjoying the process of it.

As a digital artist however, I am catching myself getting stressed with not wanting to «waste» the paint and paper and that was an unexpected hurdle. My husband reminded me that I’m trying to embrace art from the mindset of a child with exploring freely without overthinking and that if I run out I can buy more! 😅

The Virtual Travel sketching group 'went' to Rotterdam, The Netherlands this week. It was the birthplace of two men that greatly influence my preteen years: Erasmus and Hendrik Willem Van Loon. They joined together in The Praise of Folly--Erasmus as author and Van Loon as illustrator. My family had the book which I read many times and also copied the illustrations. This sketch is my homage to them. And I still have the book!
