A little gif of the art process.

Even though I use a grid for the initial sketch there was a bit of trial and error in this one. I ended up having to move her eye and adjust the shape of the face.

(The colour balance is a bit off in some of the WIP photos but you get the gist!)

The Virtual Travel sketching group 'went' to Rotterdam, The Netherlands this week. It was the birthplace of two men that greatly influence my preteen years: Erasmus and Hendrik Willem Van Loon. They joined together in The Praise of Folly--Erasmus as author and Van Loon as illustrator. My family had the book which I read many times and also copied the illustrations. This sketch is my homage to them. And I still have the book!

This is a commission I've done for my mother back in November. 💖🍂 She wanted something fall-themed and elegant.... with pumpkins involved. This is the end result. (Yes, she loved it). The artwork is 11in x15 in and made with watercolors.
