Was schenke ich jemandem zum Geburtstag? Diese Frage quält mich immer wieder und mir fällt es echt schwer etwas zu finden. Ich mag keine Verlegenheitsgeschenke (Socken) und es soll etwas sein, was für den Beschenken auch nützlich ist, oder einen Bezug zu ihm hat.

Letztes Jahr im November wurde Nick (@freestyle) 18, also ein ganz besonderer Geburtstag. Und ich habe lange überlegt, was ich ihm schenke. Mir kam dann irgendwann die Idee, mal zu schauen, was in seinem Geburtsjahr 2004 so los war. 2004 war für mich ein Jahr mit großen Veränderungen. Ich hatte zu Beginn völlig unerwartet meinen langjährigen Job verloren, war einige Monate auf Suche, bevor ich dann meinen neuen Arbeitgeber fand, bei dem ich heute noch bin. Damit verbunden sind auch viele musikalische Erinnerungen. Auch damals habe ich schon DJ-Mixe gemacht, und ich fing an, sie durchzuhören. Nicht alles, aber doch so einiges davon gefiel mir noch immer. Und diese "schönen" Stücke fing ich an zu sammeln und so kam mir die Idee, einen ganz speziellen Mix für Nick zu machen.

Heraus kam ein 4 Stunden langer Mix mit über 100 Titeln. Fast alle davon sind 2004 erschienen. Einige auch etwas früher, aber die hab ich 2004 zumindest "gehört" 😉​

Den Mix habe ich "Nick's Year Of Construction" genannt, weil Nick im November geboren wurde, und der größte Teil der Titel logischerweise in den 9 Monaten davor erschienen ist, also während er in "Konstruktion" war 😉

Am 30.11.2022 war es dann soweit, ich habe Nick einen USB-Stick überreicht, mit den Worten: "das Geschenk ist nicht der Stick, sondern das, was drauf ist". Er hat den Mix gehört und er gefiel ihm! Er hat sich riesig gefreut! 😅​

Heute wird er 19 und ich habe mich entschlossen, mit seiner Zustimmung, den Mix nun auch zu veröffentlichen.
