New sim-card, so I’m finally able to log into the system of my health-insurance (beause of two-factor auth) and see what letter my GP wrote for me.
Let’s put it like that: The “bad” news is that I now have to look where I can get voice-training and have my stuff frozen and how I tell my health-insurance that I want the money for my hair-removal back.
The much more important good news is: I have a prescription for all of these things now, so my health-insurance has to pay for them. 😊︎
Just came out to my supervisor, who will take care of informing the remainder of my colleagues. It went about as smooth as I expected, which means that by this time next week I’ll be done with my social #transition

I'm working for just, #sustainable #transition at the Social Democratic think tank Sorsa Foundation (www.sorsafoundation.fi) in #Helsinki, #Finland.
I've been trying to advance #sustainability since about 2007. I originally have a background in #engineering and #design, and did a PhD about technological substitutes for critical resources. However, #energytransition has been my main focus.
I firmly believe that broadening #democracy is THE key to sustainability.
Back from the first appointment with my new #GP. It’s a bit early to tell, but she WAS respectful and agreed that going via #VUMC was not a viable option. After agreeing that we would both prefer for me to avoid #OpenHRT (#DIY #HRT), I told her about #GenderGP and she promised she would look into that.
She furthermore will look into getting me prescriptions for facial hair removal, voice-training and having some of my genetic material frozen in case I want a family.
Even if the GenderGP-thing wouldn’t work out, the three other things would kinda offset at least the cost for my health-insurance, so that would already be great.
In short: This could have gone worse, but it will take time to see how good it went.

My parents seem to be afraid where the country is headed, about a potential Nazi-victory after the next election; then again they have a lot of complaints about the current system, some of which are plausibly funded in reality, some of which sound a lot more like propaganda spread by the enemy.

Idea for a short film
A trans woman / fem goes back in time to make her oblivious younger self realise she's trans earlier, but it mucks up her life completely.
She then keeps going back to undo this and then redo a few years later, with the same negative outcomes each time.
She eventually undoes all the changes, realising that when she actually transitioned was indeed the correct time for her.

#ClimateDiary 2/n OK, so I flew to #Tanzania to attend a 5 day workshop on #IndigenousKnowledge (IEK) and #Ethnobotany at the University of #Dodoma. I thought a lot about going (because of flying) but also felt it’s important to forge new networks in the #TapestryOfAlternatives. I gave a talk about the need for IEK at this moment of #ClimateCrisis and #transition, and had conversations about all this throughout. So it's a well-known effect/side-effect of feminizing HRT, but wow has my appetite gone through the floor. Not like "never hungry" but like, "it takes a lot less to satisfy my hunger."
This is colliding with my grew-up-poor impulses to always finish what's on my plate.

And I have my first appointment on Wednesday 😊︎. The bad news is that my hair might be so strong that it may require ten or more sessions each. If I HAD a gender-dysphoria diagnosis my health insurance would cover that, but because the Dutch system is as transphobic as it is, I will have to pay for it myself. Not happy, and it is more money than I expected but I’m thankfully in a position where I can afford this and the outcome will certainly make me a lot happier than seeing a larger number in my banking-app would.
And then we discussed full body hair-removal… It’s really a lot of money for that, but I think I might just about be able to afford it without having to touch my live-savings if I don’t go on vacation or have other large expenses until I’m done… Then again I was told that this will become less of an issue once I get on HRT anyways, so I may not need it as much after all.
In short: I’m very torn about that one.

This interview to Prof. Ian Hicke by Channel 7 on gender transition is worth watching.
The interviewer really leans on all the tricks to push his agenda against gender affirming care, particularly the plurimum interrogationum fallacy, by asking incessant questions without giving the opportunity for the interviewee to answer.
Fortunately, the professional and intellectual stature of Prof. Hicke is just too much for the interviewer to handle.
Today officially marks 2 months for me taking HRT. The differences have been small so far, but they are there. My skin is definitely softer and I feel my emotions have opened up a bit. Or maybe that's just allowing myself to let that happen. Who can say?

I think it really made the difference that I exfoliated the area last night, then scrubbed it again this morning before applying the numbing cream.
The painkillers also really helped 😌
My lovely electrologist got all visible stragglers on my top lip, then went all around my lower lip, sides & chin.

Bit of a trickier injection today.
I first Injected 0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate into the vastus lateralis muscle in my left thigh, but some of the ester pushed itself out after I removed the needle.
To be safe, I did a further injection of 0.5 mL (2 mg) nearby.
Guess I can't always get a straight-forward injection, but it's still better for me than patches :TransFemHeart:

• within a reasonable timeframe
• via informed consent
• via a national healthcare system or otherwise at an affordable cost
... by a qualified professional who fully understands trans HRT.
However, for most folks, these factors will not all occur together, if at all 😞
