There's no trans test you need to take.
You don't need a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria or gender incongruence.
But if you're waiting for a trans person to give you permission to start transitioning, you got it.
This is me giving you explicit permission to be whichever gender you want to be.
Life's too short. Choose to be the real you.
If you want to be a gender other than the one you were assigned at birth, you can just DO that :TransHeart:
Wanna be a girl? Be a girl :PinkHeart:
Wanna be a boy? Be a boy :LightBlueHeart:

I know the song "Bad Body Double" by Imogen Heap is about broader body issues.
That said, the song hits me much harder since starting transitioning. Can't on Earth think why 😅 :TransHeart:

Injected 0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate into the vastus lateralis muscle in my right thigh 💉🩹
Gently pricked a couple of places before finding an ideal injection site. Went in & came out smoothly with no leakage 😌 (Why does this sound so lewd? 🤣)
Funny to think I've been doing such injections for over a year now :TransHeart:
Major swelling today 😅
Doesn't hurt, but my top lip is pulled a bit tight, slightly affecting my speech & ability to drink from a cup.
Totally worth it though.

I think that is pretty much it. Everyone else can learn of my transition either when I see them the next time or through means such as the authorship of my papers changing.
In other words: I’m kinda done with coming out and have In a sense completed my #SocialTansition. 🍾🍾🍾
Whilst my face probably looks super sore, it's actually only feeling a bit warm right now.
I feel like I did a better job at exfoliating & cleaning my face today before applying the numbing cream, as the session hurt a lot less, even on sensitive areas.

Face exfoliated & scrubbed ✅
Strong numbing cream applied ✅
Area covered in cling film (aka plastic wrap) ✅
Strong painkillers taken ✅
Today is session 13. It's another 2-hour session, which will bring my cumulative total up to 21 hours.
Wish me a good session? :TransFemHeart:

If a partner wants you to choose between transitioning & staying with them, they don't truly love you.
If they did, they'd want you to be the real you & be happy, even if it potentially caused your relationship to end.
No truly loving partner would prioritise their needs over yours.
Please choose to be yourself: not what a partner wants you to be :TransHeart:
New sim-card, so I’m finally able to log into the system of my health-insurance (beause of two-factor auth) and see what letter my GP wrote for me.
Let’s put it like that: The “bad” news is that I now have to look where I can get voice-training and have my stuff frozen and how I tell my health-insurance that I want the money for my hair-removal back.
The much more important good news is: I have a prescription for all of these things now, so my health-insurance has to pay for them. 😊︎
Hi you all!
I've been trying to advance #sustainability since about 2007. I originally have a background in #engineering and #design, and did a PhD about technological substitutes for critical resources. However, #energytransition has been my main focus.
I firmly believe that broadening #democracy is THE key to sustainability.
Back from the first appointment with my new #GP. It’s a bit early to tell, but she WAS respectful and agreed that going via #VUMC was not a viable option. After agreeing that we would both prefer for me to avoid #OpenHRT (#DIY #HRT), I told her about #GenderGP and she promised she would look into that.
She furthermore will look into getting me prescriptions for facial hair removal, voice-training and having some of my genetic material frozen in case I want a family.
Even if the GenderGP-thing wouldn’t work out, the three other things would kinda offset at least the cost for my health-insurance, so that would already be great.
In short: This could have gone worse, but it will take time to see how good it went.
Concerned about how things are going? Climate anxiety rising with the temperatures?

I have to callout all fedi furries for help!
Recently I've come across a website, which I cannot find again.
It clearly aimed to be:
- A goto, bleeding-edge, EXTENSIVE wikipedia/research for basically an extreme form of #transition but for furries.
- It had sections like: changing skin color, growing fur and scales, using bci's for controling tail, breaking kneecaps and bones with calculating new body balance for dog like legs, stuff of that nature...

Trying to find work on transitions to climate solutions (suggestions welcome!). So much available on climate crisis itself & solutions but seems (to me) much less on #transition, how to get from the crisis fast to solutions which really is our great problem. Malm's Pipeline book is a great one I read recently on this & just read this article by Albert from a different perspective on how green new deals can be a means from here to there. It's open access. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10455752.2022.2106578 #climateaction

My parents seem to be afraid where the country is headed, about a potential Nazi-victory after the next election; then again they have a lot of complaints about the current system, some of which are plausibly funded in reality, some of which sound a lot more like propaganda spread by the enemy.
Frankly, I get a lot of mixed signals and I’m not sure whether they are complaining to me about these things to vent, to hope for push-back, …
The thing is, I don’t have the strength for that today. The plan is to ask my mother for a private talk after dinner. Essentially at dusk, like I wrote last night. It’s a matter of maybe two or three hours and this time I won’t have the advantage alcohol-lowered inhibitions. I’m scared, even though some part of me knows that I probably don’t have to.
Please wish me luck.
Injected 0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate into the vastus lateralis muscle in my left thigh yesterday (Saturday)... 💉🩹
... but then forgot to do the post afterwards 😅🤦♀️
Doing the post now, so I don't forget that I did it.
It was a nice, easy IM injection with no leakage.
Idea for a short film
A trans woman / fem goes back in time to make her oblivious younger self realise she's trans earlier, but it mucks up her life completely.
She then keeps going back to undo this and then redo a few years later, with the same negative outcomes each time.
She eventually undoes all the changes, realising that when she actually transitioned was indeed the correct time for her.
I don't think they've advertised it in the fediverse yet, but yes, I did indeed write an article for the amazing @transactualuk, & they were kind enough to publish it here:
#ClimateDiary 2/n OK, so I flew to #Tanzania to attend a 5 day workshop on #IndigenousKnowledge (IEK) and #Ethnobotany at the University of #Dodoma. I thought a lot about going (because of flying) but also felt it’s important to forge new networks in the #TapestryOfAlternatives. I gave a talk about the need for IEK at this moment of #ClimateCrisis and #transition, and had conversations about all this throughout. There were brilliant young (and older) scholars from Tanzania, Kenya, DRC, Ethiopia
So it's a well-known effect/side-effect of feminizing HRT, but wow has my appetite gone through the floor. Not like "never hungry" but like, "it takes a lot less to satisfy my hunger."
This is colliding with my grew-up-poor impulses to always finish what's on my plate.
I never understood it when a woman didn't finish her fries, and now I sit there staring at half an order of fries, not knowing what to do with myself.
#Transition is weird, y'all.

And I have my first appointment on Wednesday 😊︎. The bad news is that my hair might be so strong that it may require ten or more sessions each. If I HAD a gender-dysphoria diagnosis my health insurance would cover that, but because the Dutch system is as transphobic as it is, I will have to pay for it myself. Not happy, and it is more money than I expected but I’m thankfully in a position where I can afford this and the outcome will certainly make me a lot happier than seeing a larger number in my banking-app would.
And then we discussed full body hair-removal… It’s really a lot of money for that, but I think I might just about be able to afford it without having to touch my live-savings if I don’t go on vacation or have other large expenses until I’m done… Then again I was told that this will become less of an issue once I get on HRT anyways, so I may not need it as much after all.
In short: I’m very torn about that one.
Oh my gosh! This is just TOO perfect :FaceHoldingBackTears:
They issued my GRC on the same day as my & my wife's double anniversary of our 1st date & marriage 🥰 :TransHeart:
I can now FINALLY get my birth certificate & our marriage licence updated 😁
I'm so excited that I'm struggling to write this post 😅
Guess who's been approved for a Gender Recognition Certificate (#GRC) & will finally be able to update her birth certificate & marriage licence?

Don't worry: I've redacted my full details from the screenshots :TransFemHeart:
“What, then, are the chances that practice theory might capture recruits within the policy world? For the time being, policy relevant social science tends to be that which is consistent with a dominant paradigm organized around theories of individual attitude, behaviour and choice. At this point it is important to notice that policy makers’ tastes in social theory are not entirely random. The ABC is a political and not just a theoretical position in that it locates both the problem and the response as a matter of individual behaviour. This view, which is in keeping with the idea that government’s task is in essence that of encouraging citizens to adopt pro-environmental behaviours, downplays the extent to which the state sustains unsustainable institutions, conventions and ways of life, and the extent to which it has a hand in structuring options and possibilities. This is awkward in that the chances of embedding a more practice-theoretical approach depend on highlighting and exploiting rather than obscuring these roles.”

This interview to Prof. Ian Hicke by Channel 7 on gender transition is worth watching.
The interviewer really leans on all the tricks to push his agenda against gender affirming care, particularly the plurimum interrogationum fallacy, by asking incessant questions without giving the opportunity for the interviewee to answer.
Fortunately, the professional and intellectual stature of Prof. Hicke is just too much for the interviewer to handle.
Today officially marks 2 months for me taking HRT. The differences have been small so far, but they are there. My skin is definitely softer and I feel my emotions have opened up a bit. Or maybe that's just allowing myself to let that happen. Who can say?
Towards the end of last week TransActual became aware that the Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service have temporarily closed their waiting list to new patients (if you're already on their waiting list or a patient with them, you're not directly impacted).
Read what this means, why this is a symptom of much bigger issues with the system and what the solutions could be at https://www.transactual.org.uk/blog/treat-the-cause-not-the-symptom
Another relatively easy session 🥰
I think it really made the difference that I exfoliated the area last night, then scrubbed it again this morning before applying the numbing cream.
The painkillers also really helped 😌
My lovely electrologist got all visible stragglers on my top lip, then went all around my lower lip, sides & chin.
I'm so happy with today's progress 😁

Bit of a trickier injection today.
I first Injected 0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate into the vastus lateralis muscle in my left thigh, but some of the ester pushed itself out after I removed the needle.
To be safe, I did a further injection of 0.5 mL (2 mg) nearby.
Guess I can't always get a straight-forward injection, but it's still better for me than patches :TransFemHeart:
Help us and our movement explore and build a just transition from the ground up.
We’re recruiting a Just Transition Lead to make justice core to our project – recognising we can’t adequately tackle the environmental and climate crises without also addressing the inequality, exclusion and injustice in our world.
We want to play our part in unlocking the potential and power of communities to shape a just transition to a more equitable, more resilient, more inclusive future.
This is an exciting new, part-time, remote-working role – and we’d love you to help us find the right person to shape this important work. Find out more and apply: bit.ly/jtrolefb
I don't know which trans folks need to read / hear this today, but you do NOT need to:
• Have started or want to start HRT.
• Have had or want to have any gender-affirming surgeries.
• Be or want to be cis-passing.
• Have or want to have a normative gender-expression.
& you aren't any less valid for being less further along in your own transition than others.
You are valid as you are :TransHeart:
Time for another 2-hour electrolysis session. This will bring the cumulative total to 15 hours & the cumulative cost up to £1,050 GBP.
Face cleaned: check.
Numbing cream applied: check.
Cling film (plastic wrap) applied: check.
Strong painkillers taken: check.

In an ideal world, all trans folks wanting HRT would be prescribed the safest & most-suitable meds for their needs:
• within a reasonable timeframe
• via informed consent
• via a national healthcare system or otherwise at an affordable cost
... by a qualified professional who fully understands trans HRT.
However, for most folks, these factors will not all occur together, if at all 😞
In case this is helpful to anyone, Planned Parenthood has a PDF guide on both intramuscular (IM) & subcutaneous (subQ) injections for gender-affirming care:
There are also some great video guides here by healthcare provider Plume:
