Here’s the last time we could clearly see the cost of #Brisbane’s public #transport. You’ll note that money spent by passengers ($422mn) is dwarfed by the three-times-as-large grants and other income. How difficult would it be to remove that $422m and make public transport entirely free to the public, I wonder?

imo this is a distraction. the safety benefits won’t materialize, but it will expand the push for “connected” cars that generate a ton of data for auto and tech companies, while shouldering consumers with greater surveillance and more subscriptions.
it’s another way to distract people from the real solutions to the road safety crisis: redesigning streets to slow cars down and making investments in alternatives that get people out of them.
