After #driving over 3000 miles by myself, taking care of a now-crazier stroke victim including driving her almost 700 miles to doctor appts, perching on Army cots, guest beds and 8 different hotel beds, just shy of a month, I am back in West Virginia and safe and about to #sleep in my own #bed for the next 2 days

Wrote a #travel blog for New Harmony, Indiana. Yes, I really did love it THAT much:

When I am at the ocean, as much as I enjoy the sea itself, I revel in watching the clouds overhead. Just as there is a great expanse of water, so also is there a magnificent display of sky, and especially before or after a storm, the clouds are splendid in their moodiness, broodiness, and drama.

Maybe it's because I grew up in small towns and country settings that I prefer to avoid crowds. When I travel to well known spots, like Zion National Park, I enjoy the challenge of finding the isolated, generally undiscovered landscapes that are just as beautiful, or more, than the areas where everyone is flocking.

This post was brought to you by the biggest first world problem in existence: travel burnout.
I'm a bit sick of being a tourist. I want to find a place, a job and start moving there. Build a life. But I can't decide where and now everything feels a bit pointless. Like I'm sure the Whitsundays are beautiful, but what am I gonna do there, just look at another beach?
Sometimes I envy how uncomplicated my parents' life was through pure limitation. Example: they'd go to the travel agency and get a book of ready made vacations. These are the destinations and hotels you can choose from, you pick a date and we'll book a flight. The price is what the price is. We've been there, we know it's good. There are no other options. Simple.
Nowadays I'm burned out from looking at all the options, all the price manipulations, the vpns, the reviews, the scams. Ugh. #travel

I never get used to how dark it gets, so early, in the winter. My inner clock is set for those summer days when the evening comes late and slow, its fading light leisurely lingering, lingering, slowly filling the landscape with its shadows until it finally can do so no more.

New #travel writing from me!
I went to Varna in Bulgaria in September. Here are my thoughts on how it felt, how I felt about it, and my historian's musings on how it related to its past, present, and future. Also features pretty ducks, a stone forest, a seaside town whose inhabitants aren't fans of the sea, and the oldest gold jewelry known to humankind.
Boosts welcome and appreciated, and do let me know what you think :)

Tunnel View Yosemite National Park - The most beautiful view in the park.
One of the first evenings of the trip I knew I wanted to get back up to Tunnel View. The view was Ansel Adams worthy.
I mentioned to the visitor's center staff in historic New Harmony, Indiana that I would like to visit the dulcimer center, and said we absolutely had to go to the Creation Station - it turned out to be the new name of the place. We were in for such a treat: Rick Huffman, the owner, was unboxing some beautiful new, hand-crafted dulcimers, and gave us an impromptu concert! What an amazing experience.
