This week, I had a second go at collecting every single one of the Taipei MRT station stamps in one day.
 What are station stamps? Many places in Taiwan (museums, railway stations, temples, even some restaurants), have unique rubber stamps that visitors can ink up and collect in a notebook. If you hunt around every MRT station in Taipei, you’ll find one. They’re usually kept close to the ticket barriers nearest the staffed help desk, and most are located outside the ticket barriers in the unpaid area of the station.
 When the new TPass (a travel pass which gives you access to all MRT stations, train stations, buses and YouBikes across Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung and Taoyuan for NT$1200/month) was released, I decided to try and visit every single MRT station in one day. I failed. But that first attempt made me even more sure that it was possible, and determined to give it a second shot.
 So that’s how I spent my day off this week.  It took me almost exactly 17 hours to collect every single stamp, and in the process of doing so, I travelled over 180km. It is not something I am ever planning on doing again. (But I’ve heard there will be a new stop on the red line in the not too distant future…)

I spotted this gem of a #tree in the park in Campo de Ourique this weekend and thought "yup, that's my submission for #ThickTrunkTuesday this week sorted!"

What timing for #StandingStoneSunday! Spotted this gem on a tour and winetasting visit to a #winery in #Portugal yesterday.

This #menhir was discovered in the vineyard of Adega José de Sousa in #Alentejo. It is believed to be 6-8 thousand years old. You can still see markings on the side that was buried in the dirt and protected from erosion. The circles of different sizes and thought to be a celestial map or a census of local populations at the time.

Went to see the largest nativity scene in #Portugal in Vila Real de Santo Antonio in the East #Algarve.

TIL: The Cagón or Caganer

"It is a statuette that was usually placed in the nativity scene in Catalonia, Valencia and Canary Islands. The statuette (a peasant with red cap) was hiding behind a shrub or tree to make poop. This tradition emerged at the end of the seventeenth century with a baroque cultural and artistic movement."
