If you like #word #puzzles and #trivia, and want something well beyond #wordle, try #pedantle. It gives you the introduction of a #Wikipedia page with all the words blanked out. You guess words, and it uncovers them in the text if they're correct. It shades 'close' words to give you direction (similar to #semantle). You solve it by uncovering the name of the page. This takes dozens of guesses, sometimes over 100. Today somehow it took me only 7 guesses. cemantle.certitudes.org/pedant…

Danish pastries are called "wienerbrød" (Viennese bread) in Denmark. In Vienna, the pastries are called "Kopenhagener Plunder" (Copenhagen pastry).

The popular story behind this centers on an 1850 Danish bakers' strike where some Austrian bakers were brought in. The Austrian Plundergebäck pastry became popular, and after the strike ended, Danish bakers modified it to Danish tastes.

It's #CupOfTeaSocial #QuizQuestion time! Yesterday's question got me wondering about why there are quite so many Red Lion pubs in England. In short, no one is entirely sure, but one possible reason is that the lion is taken from the crest of John of Gaunt. Born in 1340, he was the son of King Edward III and his son was King Henry IV. Every English monarch from Henry IV onwards is a descendant of John (assuming there was no funny business along the way) so historically speaking he's A Big Thing. John wasn't born in England though, he was from Gaunt - in which modern day country can you find the town previously known as Gaunt?
