#VividMemories was a rather nice new appearance at #BoardGames night. One of my friend’s #UKGamesExpo acquisitions.
You draft the fragments and try to arrange them to match patterns on the memory tiles and make paths across the board. It’s a very thinky puzzle. My accidental strategy of not managing to score very much until the last round paid off.
Really nice artwork! The theme of childhood memories makes for some lovely images.
Undaunted: Normandy
One of the highlights of #UKGamesExpo was being taught Undaunted by @Simpike.
If you played Up Front or Advanced Squad Leader in the 80s then Undaunted might seem weak, but I really enjoyed it. If you have played Memoir '44 then it's not so different but a little more complex and deeper.
My only reservation is that Scenario 2 was a fixed, solvable puzzle. It's a minor reservation as there are tons of scenarios and campaigns so there is plenty of replay value.

My haul from #UKGamesExpo. I was pretty restrained. On a whim I bought two games from the Ragnar Brothers after a good chat with them. I am a big fan of A Brief History of the World and they sold me both games for £25, so I couldn't resist. Both look really interesting.

Interesting 2v2 strategies. Lovely art. I'm clearly an Ian Brody fanboy as he designed both this and QMG:1914.

Cooperative Carcassonne-on-sea. Not my kind of game, but perfectly pleasant and a lot more thought-provoking than I was expecting.

My least favourite game of #UKGamesExpo
Supposed to be an entry-level 18xx, but it still took over 3 hours with 3 players and I got murdered by regular 18xx players. I also knew I had lost at the 90 minute mark.
18xx is also supposed to feel historic with real-world maps. This is totally abstract.
I have played two attempts at making 18xx more accessible, this and 1829 Mainline, and they both failed completely.

Quartermaster General: 1914
My favourite game of #ukgamesexpo. We got a full demo with an oversized set. Simple for a wargame, fast-playing, plenty of strategy, enough history. Lots of interaction. Brilliant.

With #UKGamesExpo over for 2023 (I'm planning to write a little about it later this week) I've been pointed at https://www.takethis.org/2017/09/how-to-handle-con-crash-like-a-pro/ — it's a nice resource about handling the after effects of spending time at a con.
In related news, the dates for Expo 2024 have been annouced (31 May - 2 June) and hotels in the area are accepting bookings (I managed to making a saving on my Hilton booking compared to this year).
So my journey home from #UKGamesExpo has become a bit of an ordeal because of someone getting hit by a train and I've just made it a little longer by deciding that I'd rather take my usual, local train the final bit than get an uber. Why? Because I don't have the spoons to deal with the possibility the driver might try and chat with me like the one last night did.

What a weekend at #UKGamesExpo! My partner and I wandered for seven long hours lusting after wall after wall of weird and wonderful board games, topped off with a visit to the gloriously silly #KnightmareLive. Can recommend!
Had a lot of fun at #ukgamesexpo before i randomly got a sick bug half way through Saturday and had to come home 😔
Really enjoyed the Star Wars Deckbuilding game and absolutely would have got a copy if it had been in stock anywhere.

Today was my first experience of the UK Games Expo. It was ace! So many wonderful things. We have another day, but I have already bought Heat, Hungry Monkey (a joyous card game) and Colostle (a solo rpg). I'm doing some final bits and pieces of prep for #UKGamesExpo this week – you can find me at table 2-952 in Hall Two and give me a wave (I'll have prints, original art, notebooks, and Dead Letter Society with me)
