UGH - trying to get a Novavax this time around is a PITA. Had appointment at one Costco, they ran out (why don't they reserve doses for those who bother to schedule appointments?). Vaccines.gov doesn't have updated info re: availability. Tried local CVS (who BTW refused to fill my Paxlovid prescrip a year ago 😡 ) and they only have Pfizer. Both of these showed availability on gov. site. Fingers crossed that a different Costco doesn't run out before my new appointment tomorrow. #Vaccine #Covid

I'm so tired I could barely remain conscious, so of course my brain thought of a weird but curious question:
What happened as a result of my #covid #vaccine that it made my entire body cold as ice? I didn't just FEEL cold, my body was PHYSICALLY freezing cold to the touch. Face, fingers, forearms, and probably elsewhere who knows.
I should mention that I was in bed asleep, and the extreme cold woke me up.

I got my Novavax COVID vaccine today.
The CVS web site didn't allow you to make an appointment but stated to do a walk-in at a CVS pharmacy. The pharmacist said they had it sporadically but while we were talking someone was opening delivery boxes and said that one small box of Novavax arrived. So they were able to give me the shot in 20 minutes.
Now to schedule my flu shot.

Great that @goodlawproject is supporting a doctor who is taking the UK General Medical Council to court for failing to challenge Dr Aseem Malhotra's persistent misinformation about the #Covid #Vaccine. Are you ready for this? I phoned to schedule an appointment for the booster at the allergy clinic. They weren't sure if the pharmacist *in a hospital* had any Pfizer. Also, there was a presumption that it would be the *old* booster not the super duper new one until I mentioned the latter. Ye gods.
So, I'm still waiting to schedule for a booster that should be readily available by now.😱 What the holy hell???
I got my #Novavax #vaccine (number 7 #COVID shot, so far) last week, zero side effects.
I got my second (and last) #Shingles vaccine late this afternoon, along with a #Tdap (#pertussis [#WhoopingCough], #diptheria, #tetanus) shot and, so far, zero side effects.

The city of #Boston is now running free #covid #vaccine clinics, for the 2023-24 (monovalent) vaccine. It will be VITAL for everyone to get a flu shot and an XBB shot this Fall.

FWIW, I personally had no side effects from either shot this year, other than a mildly sore shoulder for a day.

Did indeed manage to get my Novavax vaccination today (yay!), but the pharmacist was confused about some of the details about Novavax and I ended up having to find the correct info on the CDC web site. So if anyone else is getting bad info…
According to the CDC, *for people 12 yo and older*: if this is your first ever COVID vaccination, Novavax requires two doses 8 weeks apart; but if you've had *any* previous covid vaccination, only one dose.

That's not a question of not having had the time; that's a question of not having thought about it, or not considering it to be important.
It's the same thing when it comes to #pregnancy....Pregnant women are particularly excluded from clinical research and were not considered when it came to the vaccines....The impact that that had on pregnant women's uptake of the vaccines [meant] that women died. Young women, who were pregnant, got COVID, and died. [They] needn't have died had they been vaccinated, had we been able to say from the beginning, yes, we've done the reproductive research, we can say that there is no toxicity and it's safe for pregnant women to take.
We [didn't] do the research, and then the regulators' response was muddled, going quite rapidly from no, pregnant women should not take the vaccine to well, if they really want to take it they can but we wouldn't recommend it to well, maybe she can have a discussion with her doctor and they can decide together, as if that helps anyone. What kind of conversation are you going to have in the absence of data?

#CovidCautious folks, a question about the new #covid19 #vaccines came up in my local group and I was hoping folks here could weigh in. Is it better to get the #Novavax or #mRNA vaccine for #covid, especially in terms of preventing infection and transmission?
For a long time in #StillCoviding circles, I was hearing that Novavax seemed to give broader immunity to a wider range of variants. But more recently, I've heard that Novavax doesn't illicit as strong a T-cell response as the mRNA vaccines. This claim seems counter to what I'd heard previously, and I'm hoping those who know more than I do can weigh in.
Regardless, I realize that getting any #vaccine is better than not getting vaccinated. And I know that #CovidIsNotOver and will #WearAMask because that's the only reliable way we can prevent infection and transmission.
