The stalk of a tiger lily with the lance-like leaves. In the axil (the joint where the leaf joins the stalk) of many leaves, small purple bulbs grow. The bulbs are about the size of a grain of corn, with two rounded protective sheaths on either side. If you look really closely, you can see the tiny whitish sprouting rootlets.

It had 2 teammates who flew down together & flushed out all the little birds at feeder & in nearby bush. One of them caught a songbird in mid air. Merlins are extremely skilled team hunters. You'll usually see more than one, working together.

In messy soil in a plant pot; blackish lumps and bits of dead leaves, there are several clumps of very tiny mushrooms. The mushrooms are flat-topped to slightly concave, pale brown with gills, straight brown stems. Very tiny; at most 1/4 inch high.

This cucumber is either a lover or killer - depending on your own opinions. To me, looks like it's a hugger & hugging a chopstick. To some others, looks like a killer, conjuring snake choking powers.

Hanging out with some awesome Jacob sheep, at our friends' farm home, last evening.
I enjoyed hand feeding a young ram. He was gentle & has a soft, warm tongue. Mom enjoyed taking pics & tried out some amateur sheep herding.

Backyard fruit trees update.

We've harvested from all of our apple, yellow plum & Asian pear trees 3 times already. More fruits are ripening for more harvests. Our peach tree has been harvested 3 times already. We have about 3-4 harvests left for that tree, this year.

Anyone with more #BritishColumbia #GovernmentofCanada #legalities on this private medical clinic in #VictoriaBC that I was alerted about today?
Alerted by a friend who was told by her family physician that if she wanted to remain a patient that she needs to pay $1500 first.
That sounds illegal & in violation of federal health act.

Can anyone in BC please tell me more about legalities of this??

Barefoot on what used to be all useless lawn grass in front yard. I've been sowing native plants & other alternative cover crops in both front & back yards. There's now much more pollinator attracting plants in both yards. Still works in progress as it's a multi yrs #rewilding project that includes natural soil remediation too. Many more pollinators are visiting & that makes me feel really good 🐝🐞🦋🕷🐜

#Rewilding of side yard area & ongoing natural #SoilRemediation project is going well. Two patches of previously hard clay has been converted into fertile growing space. By next Spring - I can plant food in those remediated plots. I planted several native plants & pea/bean nitrogen soil fixers with my soil remediation plots. You can see some self heal medicinal plants in second photo(purple flowers).

Visit #ShirleyBC - between #Sooke & #PortRenfrew & stop at #MuirBeach 👍Walk along beach until you reach the #fossils 😊 There's lots of shell, fish & other animal fossils visible here & more if you bushwack along the river(trails are all overgrown, bring a machete). There's also resident otters that live here & it's fab for birdwatching too.
