When it came out, there was a #TikTok trend (full disclosure: I am not a TikTok user) where #teenagers dressed in #suits and #ties and went to see the #movie, like it was a serious movie for "#AlphaMales"'
#Silly, yes, but it was the one time a #SocialPhenomenon coincided with my interests. And in #Israel, it was a whole different story: Teenagers started singing the #Israeli #NationalAnthem when the #villain was defeated, went to the front of the #theater, danced in front of the screen singing loudly the #Passover #song "#EchadMiYodea" and took down statues in the cinema lobby… okay, so maybe it wasn't the most glamorous. But the one time teenagers got their asses off their bed and started a movement that happened to surround an animated movie, I wasn't there.


I didn't want to be part of this at the time, for understandable reasons. But now, I realize this will probably never happen again. If any major social phenomenon occurs, it probably would be about something idgaf about and I would be too old to participate anyway. I'm turning 18 in two days. It's #depressing.

Remember when I said #TheLorax would be the hardest #movie for me to talk about in this #marathon? Yeah, #Sing2 is harder.

Sing 2 follows many of the same story beats of the first movie, but on a much larger scale and with a real, intimidating #villain. Like the original, the main characters are likable, it has tons of charm, it has great moments and I found new songs thanks to it.

However… something felt off. And I'm not sure what it is. I'll have to come back to this one. I've even downloaded a #transcript of the #film to my #iPad, so I can go through it. For now, I'll call it #good.

We're only two #movies away from the finish line, so let's get on with the penultimate movie: #MinionsTheRiseOfGru, the movie I still regret not seeing in #theaters.

Last night I #watched "The Survivor" (AU 1981), a #movie about a 787 crashing and burning shortly after takeoff, killing all passengers and crew except for the pilot, Keller (Robert Powell). He has to deal with survivor's guilt and his too-understanding fellow pilot, Tewson (Peter Sumner), not to mention the investigation led by Slater (Ralph Cotterill). Also the Press, which has found out that Keller was having an affair with the wife of the small airline's president. The president was on the flight.

A photographer manages to get close enough to Keller to snap some pictures of him offering sympathy to the airline president's wife. We later see that photographer (and after the next paragraph, his girlfriend, who developed the photos) each die gruesomely, apparently at the hands of children who died in the crash.

A clairvoyant who saw the crash, Hobbs (Jenny Agutter), is experiencing the feelings of the passengers, especially the children's. She talks with Keller at a vigil and arranges to meet with him later. They argue when they meet, and Keller attempts to walk out. Seemingly possessed, Hobbs attacks him. Both strongly experience the emotions of the crash victims when they touch. They agree to investigate further.

That night, Hobbs and Keller sneak into the hangar where the plane's fuselage is being stored. Anxious to regain his memories, Keller sits in the pilot seat and Hobbs tries to help him remember. It works, and they both experience Keller's memories. Hobbs briefly passes out, but at least they now know that there was a bomb on board. They leave that hangar, and Hobbs acts as a psychic compass that leads them to the hangar where the rest of the wreckage is.

Keller leaves Hobbs in the car and enters alone: he finds Tewson, murdered. He also finds Slater sitting on the edge of a jet engine, holding a rifle. In his #villain #monologue, Slater admits to planting the bomb; Tewson's side investigation was getting too close to revealing that, so he had to die. Slater had planned to gain control of the airline when its stock crashed. While the pair talk, the sound of the victims gets ever louder in the background; eventually the wreckage bursts into flames. We see Slater die in place, and David stumbles outside engulfed in flames.

Days later – she seems to have just driven away and told no one – Hobbs watches the fuselage being moved. The move is halted when one of the workers notices someone in the pilot's seat. It's Keller's body. He really died in the crash, with the film seemingly saying he'd been manifested by the spirits of those who had died. Let's hope Slater's death was enough for them, because Hobbs wasn't in the hangar to hear his confession, and a second fire likely destroyed any remaining evidence.

A strange piece of #cinema. A moody, cerebral, horror #film that doesn't really work, perhaps because of all the logic and action gaps trying to maintain a mood causes. Like many older #movies I watch, this was suggested by "Terry Talks Movies" on YouTube. He likes it more than I do. ●●○○○ #CineMastodon

These are the most important characters in the rival space pirate crew led by Corvus. Corvus and Altair are almost exact opposites of each other so there’s a lot of conflicts that happen between them. Fenrir’s design probably won’t change anymore, but I may end up tweaking the others. Let me know what you think of them!

Time to update my #introduction! (No, I did not move instances.)

I'm #queer in enough ways to qualify as bowl of letter soup, and go by ae/aer primarily and she/her pronouns. I am #polyamorous, with a heavy preference for the kitchen table variety.

Currently pursuing diagnostics for #neurodivergence, I'm assured that I am from several people that this is the case, but often I think I'm just #complicated, #obnoxious, don't have a good grasp on human interaction, and generally speak like a pedantic textbook.

I'm a polytheistic #pagan and turned my back on the Christianity that my father preached - I guess it's true what they say about the kids of the preacher and the miller's cattle.

I am #German by nationality, #Frisian by heritage, and after moving through Germany quite a bit currently live in the #LowerRhine region.

I speak #German and #English confidently, can understand enough #Dutch to possibly not get lost too much, and have a pitiful grasp of #EastFrisian. Thanks to #TheHu, I want to learn #Mongolian at some point.

I love #writing (if I can get myself to pick up the plotted out, in parts drafted 4 novel project again) and #photography. I have a complicated relationship with #sewing that contains a lot of profanity in the process.

I have a varied taste for #gaming mainly on the PC, where depending on my current obsession I'll mostly play things like #Skyrim, #KerbalSpaceProgram, #Terraria, #HeatSignature, or another old favourite of mine, which might be something vintage PC from the 90s, or even something from the #Amiga500. I have a love/hate relationship with #Cyberpunk2077.

I like #scifi and #fantasy, and would give a lot for a resurrected #Pratchett. The world needs his kind of anger now more than ever. I also love things #space! Always a bonus: a well-built #villain or not squeaky clean character.

Recent series I liked was #AliceInBorderland.
