Does anyone know if there is a #godotengine plugin for #visionOS? I'm helping a friend experiment with something and it would be awesome if there were a way to run godot stuff on #VisionPro. I'm currently trying to get the Metal bits working with MoltenVK but there is a lot to cover…
I tried creating my own HEIC with two images, applying the same metadata as I found in the sample Spatial Photo that's in the #visionOS simulator runtime, which is recognized on #visionOS (and iOS and macOS) as a Spatial Photo, but it crashes the Photos app in the visionOS simulator when I try to open it (the sample photo included with the simulator opens fine, however). Seems there's more to the individual images in the Spatial HEIC than meets the eye.
Auch iPad- und iPhone-Apps im #visionOS App-Store für die Apple #VisionPro
Seems like we have to say goodbye to Reality Composer. The newest version of Xcode doesn’t include it, and the application downloads only point to the iOS version. From now on, it seems we will have to live with Reality Composer Pro, which will arguably reduce the confusion (although it can exclusively be used for visionOS 😵💫)
I’ve been giving pointers to friends getting into visionOS dev. Observing their experience and hearing their frustration with Xcode really validates what we’re trying to do here @ #volumetrics.
Nothing but love for my former colleagues, but the quality of the developer experience really does not line up with the quality of the end user experience.
On visionOS, RealityKit has 70% more components than its counterpart on iOS 17. The accessibility components absence on iOS16 makes that even more apparent. Though body tracking and dynamic lighting are missing from visionOS (now pure IBL based), I think we will miss more of the things when it comes to iOS, such as a video player. Moment for feedback 🎤
@swiftremotestudio is rapidly closing in on 100 members! 🎉
Big thanks to all those who have joined and are participating in the virtual coworking as well as our online coffee and goal setting/accountability meetups! 🤩

Researcher Wenbo Tao who is also a designer and builder created a beautiful demo that demonstrates physics on the Vision Pro.
You can find the code on github:
#Apple has announced a brand-new #AppStore with Apple #VisionPro, featuring apps and games built for #visionOS, as well as hundreds of thousands of iPad and iPhone apps that run already the revolutionary new device. In principle this means that users can access their favourite iPad and iPhone apps side by side with new visionOS apps on the infinite canvas of Apple Vision Pro! Exciting times!
Today I Realized:
Very interesting podcast where Gruber discusses Fantastical developer’s hands-on experience with #visionpro - I honestly believe this platform will be as transformative as the release of the original Mac. Looking forward to the Super Bowl commercial.

Take your iPad and iPhone apps even further on Apple Vision Pro - Apple Developer
"A brand‑new App Store will launch with Apple Vision Pro, featuring apps and games built for visionOS, as well as hundreds of thousands of iPad and iPhone apps that run great on visionOS too."
I seem to have occasional vision problems when my “distance mix” over time has too much close-up work vs. too little far-away vision. (It’s a convergence issue—aiming muscles—not a focus issue.)
What if I could have my windows really big, spread out at multiple distances significantly farther than a computer screen?
And what if I could use them outdoors in variable scenery that draws my eyes to the distance in a way boring walls can’t?
#VisionPro to the rescue!
An interview with #Apple executives Susan Prescott and Steve Sinclair on building apps for the Vision Pro and how Apple is trying to lure developers to make apps.
well after a few hours this afternoon, I've gotten the UI to be a bit more consistent across my app (#watchOS, #tvOS, #macOS, #iOS, #iPadOs, and #visionOS) but my rewrite has two major bugs still: 1)The keyboard shortcuts I wrote for iPadOS and macOS are still not working, and 2) The Summary statistics screen is still not updating in a timely manner (using @State @AppStorage private var ) at times it appears I need to exit app and restart. Do I need to do a .onChange?
The final straight before the workshop on Accessible Spatial Computing next week.
Now focused on consolidating the DocC interactive tutorial that will be used to go from a good iOS app to a great visionOS accessible one. The sample app is called Hello Wurst because I couldn't think of anything more German to say.

A new version (2023.4) has been released. It fixes an issue where details for an app couldn't be shown. This happened because of a change in the data Apple returned, which now included some #visionOS stuff 😬
I’m impressed by how much has improved with visionOS beta 3. The rough spots are definitely getting dedicated attention and it’s great to see. At this rate, @forscore should be ready for a fully optimized release at or near launch, if it makes sense at that point to do so.
Interesting actions can be found when VoiceOver is navigating containers. For example, in the App Placement Bar, there's “Move to Direct Touch Range” option to bring a window closer, so you can trigger controls directly. You can also move it back using “Indirect Interaction Range”. The default action makes the window face you.
I built a number of layers in https://www.tappr.tv and they have provided years of stability to the product.
Some layers, like TapprIO are good as is.
Unfortunately, the dance controllers all descend from UIViewController, and are written in ObjC.
I want to re-imagine them in Swift, language and paradigms and all.
And there’s no one to say no.
Hi Mastodon Community 👋 - I am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Know anyone who needs an iOS engineering subject matter expert?
Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. In the meantime I’m back to being an indie developer! 🎉 #OpenToWork #iosdevelopment #visionos #swiftui #mobileappdevelopment #engineeringmanagement
I had a great conversation with @tchaten about spatial computing, visionOS, and getting work done on the Apple Vision Pro for his Vision Pros podcast. It will be available to everyone on September 7, but supporters of his podcast have early access and can listen to it now.
Inside the Apple Vision Pro labs - Discover - Apple Developer
Can I say that? 🤔 I guess so! 🤷🏻♂️
Apple said I can say I went to the lab, and I can say this article is accurate. 🎯
My experience was very similar to @_Davidsmith's. The gasp is real.
Anyone else having issues with Xcode Beta 7 crashing anytime you build for #VisionOS?
What is the best way to determine where things are from your perspective when you have visual impairments?
It turns out that there is a promising VoiceOver command that attempts to answer that question in the most human terms. When you have something focused with VoiceOver, you can use VO-Shift-D to trigger Describe App Location. This will give information about where your focus is in the space, such as in the distance, partially hidden, behind you, etc

I still have concerns about Vision Pro as a product but adapting forScore to visionOS has been a fun challenge. I ended up making more structural changes than I expected, thanks in part to @stroughtonsmith demonstrating windows resizing themselves when toggling a sidebar. I think it all works nicely.
I’m at the point now where I really don’t think I can make many more decisions until I can judge distance, control size, and performance on actual hardware.
What a day! I was lucky enough to attend a Vision Pro Lab. While I can’t talk about the lab itself, it’s been a huge help in understanding the platform and its interactions.
I’ve taken loads of notes about Sequel on visionOS and am super excited to work my way through them in the coming weeks.
Thank you to all the Apple staff who have been extremely helpful! 🙏
In the past, during the era of Flash®, I used to think that interactivity couldn't evoke the same emotions as other forms of media. I believed that making rational decisions during interactive experiences hindered emotional connection, except for games which had a unique narrative-driven mechanic 🤷

⭐️ I've seen this one asked on the official forums, so here's my quick take on how to expand a window to show a sidebar, Safari-style, on visionOS: https://github.com/steventroughtonsmith/VisionExpandingSidebar
Just returned from a full day Vision Pro hands on lab in Munich. While the content is confidential, I can say that is was super helpful to get a better sense of the device and its UX . Go apply for one of the labs if you’re seriously considering #visionOS development!
Didn’t snag a spot this month for our Apple Vision Pro developer labs? We’ve just opened up additional appointments Aug 28 – Sept 8 in all regions (Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore). Apply by August 23 to come test your #visionOS app or prototype!
I am currently preparing a workshop on accessible spatial computing, specifically focusing on visionOS features. As part of the research phase, I've been re-watching and synthesizing the info from the WWDC23 Spatial Computing videos. This process generated some artifacts that I want to share, I call them nanos, which are mind maps containing high-level keywords and concepts of each video.

Today we are dividing and conquering: @bcapps is learning Blender to add a needle drop keyframe animation and
@mikaelacaron is looking into MusicKit to add album selection! She’ll be starting by watching “Meet MusicKit for Swift” from #WWDC21 #visionOS #BuildInPublic
Applications for next week’s #visionOS Cupertino labs are now closed, but you can still apply for the ones starting August 14: https://developer.apple.com/events/view/L6Y46ABS48/dashboard
