@michabbb Fwiw, i use #Snapshot not #Stable, & have done so for many years. Ofc the raison d'etre of #Snapshots is to help the Devs find bugs before the next Stable releases. Thus, some Snapshots can be a bit rough, however, over the years, numerous times, certain Snapshots arrive that make me explicitly remark to myself; "this, THIS one, is THE best #VivaldiBrowser ever". It's a nice feeling each time that happens.

@thinkStory @deightonrobbie #Thunderbird is a great choice. May I also point you to the #email and #Calendar client directly integrated in #VivaldiBrowser - an added benefit for me because I have all the web in one single program.
@Vivaldi's mail concept is filter focused, allowing you to efficiently view or hide emails based on criteria they fulfill. It also supports IMAP folders of course and its labels are compatible to Thunderbird. No harm in a test run.
Random sites are suddenly logging themselves out in Vivaldi browser on my iMac running High Sierra.
Cookies are set to be retained.
The browser works fine on Linux and Windows.
I've asked for help in Vivaldi forum, but no replies.
Any help most welcome. :)

Well, #Vivaldi was doing pretty good... Up until now, where I can't open the tab list to access my other tabs. I can swipe between them with no preview, and I can long-press on the button for a few shortcuts, but it refuses to bring up my tab list. Might've been the update I just got. But, uh. Also some consider privacytests as biased as the person running it works at Brave. However as you mention their test suite is open source.. So you have to make your own decision what you want to believe and who to trust.
Opinion: #Vivaldi #VivaldiBrowser needs stricter #Privacy . If they are really all about privacy then they should have test results similar to Brave (https://privacytests.org/nightly.html). I understand they they say that “they only block known trackers” or whatever but seriously, if you really want good privacy why not just block everything?

I've been using Firefox and Mendeley to access and organise sources but wonder if there are features useful in Vivaldi or connected features that you find helpful?

I tried to compare two #Wikipedia pages in Vivaldi on my Android #smartphone. To do this, I had to switch #tabs or open another browser and use the split screen. This seems a bit cumbersome to me.

I said it before and I will say it again : I LOVE the Summarizer on the Brave searchengine which I got on all our Vivaldi browsers. (desktop,laptops and phones)
It's result is just so good, and therefore is saving me a lot of time opening various sites.

Interesting development I may have discovered with the Vivaldi browser.
I seem to have discovered that the one and only extension I installed on Vivaldi browser seems to prevent the .business TLD from loading after 5-10 minutes or so, but I need more websites with the .business TLD to confirm my suspicion.
Anyone got any suggestions for website with a .business TLD other than just https://kinky.business ?? Please help!!

In my early months of Masto, last year, in my original #Instance, i personalised my Masto browser view to have five permanently visible columns, then used some #Stylus #css to adjust column widths, font sizes etc for comfy viewing in my browsers. The fifth column was the local timeline, which i used for casual reading during the times my Home column remained fairly "under-nourished".
One day, sometime last year, i learned from someone's helpful post that we could follow hashtags, something nowadays just blindingly obvious, but to me back then was utterly unknown. So i began doing so, adding more over time as needs & wants be.
A month or two ago, 'ish, i suddenly realised that nowadays i was spending ZERO time in that local timeline, given my Home column is always full as a goog, full up to dolly's wax, full to pussy's bow, et al 😜 Hence it was time to again edit my css, & my Masto interface, to revert to the four-column view.
TL;DR: following hashtags is fabulously handy!

Hey Vivaldi browser fans,
I do a fair amount of accessibility testing and that involves using the Tab key to navigate through links and input fields within webpages.
I can't seem to set the settings to do that in the same way it works in other browsers. If this is possible and if you have this working please share!
I can change the spatial nav keys but that's an entirely different system (which is fine, but I would prefer use a standard method for testing)
My issue with my new Vivaldi Browser installation not loading https://kinky.business seems to be a browser specific issue. Other browsers seem to work fine with kinky.business, and all other sites I have tried work fine with Vivali.
I'm wondering if there is a bug with Vivaldi and the TLD of .business It seems to work for about 5 minutes after launching Vivaldi, but after that dies in the arse and won't let me continue browsing.
It seems to be a really perplexing issue.

@nathan what I like about the #VivaldiBrowser is the side panel to the left. You can make anything a widget there including a web page. There are widgets for mail calendar to do's. It has an RSS reader. It's my personal browser now but I still use Chrome as my developing browser because of the extensions. Of course I haven't checked with what all Vivaldi has for developing.
@jon @Vivaldi That's great news. I didn't know that #VivaldiBrowser runs on #AndroidTV. Unfortunately I only have a #WebOS TV by #LG and I pretty much hate the build-in #browser. It's so sluggish and the possibilities are pretty limited. I wish there would be Vivaldi for WebOS as well. :vivaldi_gray: 📺

It never ceases to amaze me when co-workers who lived through the misery of IE being a monopoly will happily use Chrome.

If and when I need to use a "chrome based browser" I will use Edge. Other than that it's all #firefox all the time.

#GAFAM are against the #openWeb —and the worst in the bunch is Google, that also holds a dominant position with their browser both on the desktop and mobile space.
The #VivaldiBrowser is the closest thing we have to an “swiss army knife for the open Internet” today, and yet it doesn't even have feature parity with the late Opera/Presto. For example, it has no IRC client.
But in the context of my vision for the #Fediverse, the most glaring omission is the lack of an equivalent to Opera Unite, an incentive to the development of easy-to-deploy self-hosted websites.

@dennisl I installed it a couple of weeks ago and it’s a multi taskers dream. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first just because of the number of options you have access to for configuring things but once you get over that initial bump it’s a nice browser in my opinion.
I think anyone giving it a try needs to give it a few days just to get a bit familiar with it because of this.

@cjhubbs the #email client integrated into #VivaldiBrowser auto sorts your newsletters (mailing lists) into categories. Depending on how well formed the header info is you may have to tweak the filter rule a little in settings. You can choose to show or hide in with a toggle buttom.
It also has a feed reader integrated, with your choice of having RSS show up in your mail or completely separated.
The client is fairly new and in active development.
