#voidlinux
Cada día siento que funciona mejor #VoidLinux. Es impresionante lo rápido que abren las cosas!!! Es una distro muy bien cuidada.
Nothing startling but just a WIP screenshot of #SwayFX on my #VoidLinux laptop. #SwayWM
Fingers crossed my PR gets accepted....

Haha I have successfully built a #VoidLinux package for #SwayFX and now I can have window blur and corners plus more and best of all it closely follows the #SwayWM way. Will submit a PR probably to the Void package repo for others to enjoy it too. Fingers crossed for it getting accepted though.
I wrote a neat guide on installing void linux by chrooting, and it also includes instructions on how to setup river, a wayland compositor!

@tulpa I run #voidlinux on my Thinkpad SL500 (a budget T500, sort of). At first, only to take a look at void. The first impression was great, since the startup time has been decreased by a remarkable amount, aswell as an overall much smoother experience compared to my previous installations on that hardware (Manjaro and Arch).
I then tried OpenBSD, which was great too. But i couldn't get Tor Browser (and maybe Firefox, not sure about that though) to run with acceptable performance. Really no idea why that's been the case. This was a deal breaker for me. Sadly...
Been playing with void-mklive to make a custom live installation iso and I'm finding it extremely useful indeed. I now have an installer with the latest kernel and packages plus some added extras that I need.

OMG Where has xbps-remove -Rov app-name been all my life !?
This beats pacman for sure as it lets me remove all packages that were initially installed as dependencies and are no longer needed by anything else including the said package. It's the simple things that please me. 😍
#VoidLinux
Some mild distro hopping. Lojban is running #LinuxMint currently, and Leeloo (the primary computer which fried) shall be running #VoidLinux once I cipher how to install a mount point from the menu. #Lubuntu next, not to get ahead of myself.
It's strange how I've missed #SwayWM and don't actually need all the fancy stuff that #Hyprland provides to get a job done even though it is good.
#VoidLinux

@withaveeay I'm using the glibc version not the musl. So now I'm not the only lurker on the #VoidLinux site now 😜
Cool my #Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 audio interface works perfectly under #pipewire on #VoidLinux too.
#VoidLinux Breaking changes: Pipewire session manager switch, Pipewire and PulseAudio system service removal.
The more I use and read about #VoidLinux the more I'm leaning towards waving goodbye to my bae #ArchLinux . I'm not 100% sure yet so I've decided to setup my old laptop exactly how I want for daily driving and see how it feels compared to my Arch daily driver. Oh yeah the meme below is just a little fun and you may well have other opinions but I'm starting to feel Void does seem better for me. 🤔

Whilst browsing #GitHub repos for #VoidLinux information I stumbled across this interesting looking Void Linux installer that seems to do just about everything from #fde to #Pipewire audio setup and the choice of base install or DM / WM.
I haven't tried it yet but it may help others ?
#VoidLinux
Okay so no #Gimp 2.99.* in #VoidLinux . Pity as that has #Wayland support built in. I could always build it from source I suppose.
Either I'm blind or nobody seems to make / sell the foil stickers for PCs / laptops that have "Powered by" followed by the distros name and logo. For example I currently have the #ArchLinux one but if I do wonder off into the Void aka #VoidLinux I'd like to replace it obviously with a matching Void sticker.
Can the #Fediverse help out as I'm sure I'll not be the only person to purchase some ??

Wow I was browsing the web looking at various pros and cons of #ArchLinux vs #VoidLinux and there was this one link that shows Void at number 1 based on visitor rankings on Distrowatch.

Playing around with #VoidLinux and I've actually just realised that the fact #Hyprland isn't available in their packages but can be installed by hand really isn't bothering me. In fact I'd go as far as to say that I probably would settle for #SwayWM or #RiverWM . I definitely would not switch back to anything #Xorg based that's for sure.
Well so far playing around with #VoidLinux on an old laptop I've #SwayWM up and running along with all my other stuff. I've built #Spotify from source without issue and just setup printing / scanning . Using #Runit for services is a doddle too no cumbersome #Systemd . Could :void: be about to replace #ArchLinux on my daily ?
I think I need more time just to make sure that it's really for me but the results so far are in favour of Void.
OK let's try something as I haven't yet found many #VoidLinux users on the #Fediverse yet but then it's like when you've just bought a new car that you haven't seen that often and then bam ! They're everywhere.
Void Linux users come say hello and share your tips, blogs and scripts that have helped you on your Void #Linux journey. Let's start a thread that could help not just myself but others too.
Boosts very much appreciated 😉❤️ :void:
@huilong Absolutely and once I'm totally convinced and happy with how things work or don't then maybe but it's a big maybe #VoidLinux might make it's way onto my ThinkPad P14s daily driver in place of Arch ???
:arch: vs :void: ? 🤔
My personal #VoidLinux experience so far is that it makes you work to make it work so that in the end you completely understand how each separate piece operates kind of like #LinuxFromScratch . You ask have I actually built an #LFS system ? Yep I went there and it was fun but best of all is the sense of accomplishment once you get at the end.
How do I feel about it only a few days into testing it ? It's actually growing on me and I can see why some folk switch from #ArchLinux to Void Linux.
#VoidLinux #ArtixLinux
Setup #VoidLinux on an old laptop using the installer to start with just to get the feel of it and it's package management system before I think about going fde or installing to my #ThinkPad as my daily driver. I'm not rushing this but we'll see how I feel in a few weeks time or so.

@Anachron @benjaminhollon Thanks just wondering as a lot of folk post about using #VoidLinux but no one seems to mention whether they're using musl or glibc .
A very interesting read and kind of makes me want to spin up #VoidLinux on a spare laptop to see how it compares to my long standing daily driver #ArchLinux
https://animeshz.github.io/site/blogs/void-linux.html
I'd like to write on my CV that I have experience with the most common #OSes: #Gentoo Linux, #Ubuntu, #Debian, #Devuan, #Fedora, #ArchLinux, #Artix Linux, #LinuxMint, #FreeBSD, #RedHat EL, #OpenBSD, #VoidLinux, NetBSD, #OpenSolaris, #NixOS, #AlpineLinux, Hannah Montana Linux, Red Star OS, OS/400, Plan 9, Emacs, DOS, Windows, macOS...
But I'd need to brush up on my knowledge of Windows and macOS first
Being able to set #Brave as the default web-browser on #VoidLinux after months of attempts feels beyond rewarding!
I'll update my #voidlinux chromebookn on a Fri night... oh, new nerd font packages. (reboot) My status bar is all broken. Let's spend an hour redoing my status emoji's. What fun.
Day 66 of #100DaysOfCode - Wrote a bash script to sync, upgrade, and clean up #VoidLinux. Keep things rollin' smooth! #linux https://gitlab.com/dwarmstrong/homebin/-/blob/master/xxbps
@Anachron @tranzystorek_io @paper I care when stuff stops working out of the blue or start behaving weirdly.
Why do you all not see any problem when there's old software in official repos nobody has an eye on? According to Repology almost 3200 packages are basically "luck"-based, with some of them potentially dangerous.
https://repology.org/maintainer/orphan%40voidlinux.org
There even are REALLY important things like ffmpeg & qemu orphaned and major versions behind…
I think #VoidLinux is out for me. This ain't okay.
Looking at #VoidLinux and the amount of orphaned packages in the repo makes me really worry. Is it secure? There don't seem to be that many users... although I don't want the Chicken-egg fallacy to stop me.
Hypothetically I could maintain some given it ain't that hard. Perhaps Arch just made me a little bit nervous about security patches. 😶
#VoidLinux looks quite interesting. I like the minimal installer.
Here's another curious poll... :blobthinkingsmirk: Experienced Linux users! Which advance distro do you use on a daily basis? :linux: (sorry for having a bit too much hashtags)
#linux #archlinux #gentoo #voidlinux #distro #poll #endeavouros #guix #slackware #nixos #foss #redhat #debian #rhel
I've updated my #Windows partition like 6 times and I am actually really surprised that my boot menu has not died out. Long Live #rEFInd and #VoidLinux
I think this is getting a little out of hand. I improved my #VoidLinux button and also changed the #512kbClub button to match the rest :blobcatderpy:
I will do one for #100DaysToOffload I think
Welcome to the void!!
it's a one-way journey !!
#voidlinux
Dos capturas para este #ViernesdeEscritorio. Como siempre #voidlinux con el escritorio #plasma. #Wezterm es mi terminal y además os muestro las aplicaciones #neofetch #tempy #cava #tty-clock y #logo-ls
HAHAHA; it was a joke #Arch users! I just built it from source using xbps-src and a beautiful template I found online!
https://github.com/kruceter/hyprland-void
#VoidLinux reigns supreme
Now, I have to figure out how to make my font not huge lol
#voidlinux :void: is just amazing and super smooth :blobcatderpy:
I updated a package for #VoidLinux, I submitted a PR and did some fixes, but its now a matter of waiting for it to be accepted :blobcatderpy: This is day 10 of #100DaysToOffload

Et voilà, une #VoidLinux fonctionnelle sur mon nouveau PC #System76. :)
Hi, I am Snott. I have been on the #Fediverse for a few years, on fosstodon since 2018 but using a different username. Also elekk.xyz with this username for a bit.
I like #BulletJournal and #FountainPens, #MTB and getting out in nature but I do not currently do enough of that.
I build custom cars for a living, and race local car club occasionally (currently no running car doh).
I do a bit of #photography, #motorsport often due to local car club racing, but am branching out to other aspects… I want to get better at portraits. Also taking photos of birds is pretty difficult; I get it now.
I have had an interest in #Linux since a friend ran Ubuntu on a G3 Mac, but never had the know-how. I am self-taught as this is not my job. Went from Ubuntu 12.04 from a Linux magazine DVD, then to #Arch, then that screwed up when they moved to systemd and I didn’t know how to fix it. I have run #VoidLinux which was immensely helpful to get my head around more stuff, but now sit in Windows on my desktop duel (yes) booting with #Manjaro - which I want to nuke and pave back to Arch, but really CBF.
I set up this Akkoma instance (nope it is not Mastodon) not knowing what the hell I was doing, so wrote myself a guide that was repeatable and posted it here using #Hugo.
#SelfHosting has always been an interest but I always felt out of my depth. Still do. But I’ll give it a stab.
need help with udev taking a while to settle on #voidlinux 🤔
I had forgotten to setup #ActivityWatch on my #VoidLinux install, this time I did not forget to backup my previous progress. Kinda sad that I can't import a bucket if my hostname is the same as my previous machine, but ok.
I think next time I'll just grab the whole data folder
One of the reasons I stopped using #VoidLinux was because I didn't get #printing at all back then. It is not a problem now that I kinda understand how #cups works with IPP and stuff.
I accidentally wasted like 10 sheets on test prints tho :blobcatderpy:
Dude, the boot time speed is actually unreal I didn't remember #voidlinux being this fast
First post from my #VoidLInux Machine! Finally restored my keepassxc database and the firefox plugin :P
Alright, I finally had time to do all the backups I needed to once again, #EnterTheVoid
#voidlinux is amazing
Finished migrating all my repositories to #codeberg 😃
compared to gitlab pages, setting up a codeberg page is very very easy. 🤗
On gitlab I had to setup my own gitlab-runner, which is very complicated to do on #voidlinux. On the other hand only an index.html file is needed for a codeberg page 😁
Last thing left to do is Domain transfer..
