Trump is not immune from election-subversion prosecution, judge rules
“A former President’s exposure to federal criminal liability is essential to fulfilling our constitutional promise of equal justice under the law,” Chutkan ruled.

Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution for his attempt to subvert the 2020 election, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled Friday, concluding that his term as president does not serve as a shield against charges that he sought to defraud and disenfranchise millions of Americans.
“Defendant’s four-year service as Commander in Chief did not bestow on him the divine right of kings to evade the criminal accountability that governs his fellow citizens,” Chutkan ruled in a 48-page opinion, sweeping aside Trump’s most intricate attempt to derail the case against him.

Chris Christie, talking about what changes the Democrats will make if they get control of both HoR and Senate: "...(the Democrats) will admit Washington DC and Puerto Rico as States to make sure (Republicans) never have a majority in the Senate again..."
He admitted, out loud and on video, that the only reason Washington DC and Puerto Rico are having Statehood withheld is for political reasons; so that the Republicans have a chance to keep control of the Senate.
Nobody in either of those territories should ever vote Republican again.

The March on Washington was the product of a long and arduous journey. Each moment built upon the previous one, generating momentum and solidarity among civil rights activists. By the time the march occurred in 1963, it stood on the shoulders of decades of activism, struggle, and resilience.

In part 3 thread we will look at how the murder of Emmitt Till, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the saga of the Little Rock 9, and the freedom rides and sit-ins galvanized Black Americans and their allies to organize in solidarity against discrimination, racism, and in support of justice and equality and how this led to the the March on Washington. Thanks for reading.
These events pressured the government into addressing systemic racism and inequality, eventually leading to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, both of which were significant steps toward dismantling racial segregation and discrimination.
The March on Washington built upon the momentum generated by the Brown decision.
It represented a collective push for comprehensive civil rights legislation and societal change, beyond just the educational sphere.
Indeed, the Supreme court’s ruling provided a legal basis for challenging segregation in ALL aspects of life, including schools and public spaces, and set a precedent for future civil rights cases—-to translate the ideals of desegregation and equality into legislative and societal change.
Both those who led the effort to overthrow school segregation and those who organized the March on Washington had shared goals of dismantling segregation and advancing civil rights. Brown v. Board of Education paved the way for the legal groundwork that the March on Washington sought to further and implement.
The March on Washington took place nearly a decade after the Brown decision. It brought together civil rights organizations and activists to advocate for an end to racism, discrimination in employment, and other inequalities faced by Black Americans. And no more foundational to this was the desegregation of schools to allow for equal opportunity access to quality education for all children.
The Brown decision marked a significant turning point by declaring that segregation in education inherently perpetuated feelings of inferiority among African American children and was therefore inherently unequal.
Brown v. Board of Ed was a landmark legal case in which the Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. The decision overturned the “separate but equal” doctrine established in the 1896 case Plessy v. Ferguson, which had allowed racial segregation as long as the facilities were deemed equal.
Finally, there’s the 1954 landmark ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court that declared state-sponsored segregation in public schools unconstitutional. This decision —-no colloquially as Brown v. Board of Ed—-marked a direct challenge to the established system of segregation and became a catalyst for the modern civil rights movement.
The Harlem Renaissance uplifted Black American voices and helped to create a more just and equitable society. The cultural awakening of the Renaissance set the stage for the activism and advocacy of the Civil Rights Movement and the March on Washington exemplified the power of united action in the pursuit of civil rights and equality.
Both the Harlem Renaissance and the March on Washington represented shared objectives of empowerment, representation, and progress for Black Americans. The cultural flourishing of the Harlem Renaissance provided a foundation of pride and self-worth that fueled the later civil rights movements, including the March on Washington.
In essence, the Harlem Renaissance shaped a positive and empowered Black American identity, fostered cultural pride, and contributed to the broader struggles for equality and justice. This sense of unity within the Black American community, encouraged Black Americans to embrace their heritage and build a stronger collective identity.
The Harlem Renaissance also helped shape a broader national and international recognition of Black American contributions to art, culture, and society. It fostered a sense of unity within the Black American community, encouraging individuals to embrace their heritage and build a stronger collective identity. This movement laid the groundwork for future activism.
These artists were able to challenge and redefine prevailing stereotypes and negative perceptions. This movement celebrated African American heritage, history, and creativity, emphasizing the richness and diversity of their culture. It provided a platform for Black Americans to express their unique experiences and perspectives.
