The sad part of this is that these are the kind of cars we need now: lightweight so less road wear, safer for pedestrians, small engine so less consumption and emissions, etc.
You would think California of all places would pass a law specifically exempting Kei cars in order to promote their existence.
In fact it could start using them as municipal vehicles to set an example.

I had filed "mounting my boost controller" under "make it the engine builder's problem" (the old one randomly dangled around in the engine bay, so eh). But this week it struck me that I already had a nice convenient place to mount it: on the intake pipe I made, which is steel.
I chopped up some scrap angle iron, drilled and tapped some holes to M4, and spent a little time with the MIG. Success! I like it being self-contained like this.

Personally I don't understand why pickup trucks are so popular. If I was a tradesman I think I would be looking at an enclosed cargo van like either the Ram Promaster, or the Ford Transit, both of which come in EV flavours.

I did 228 miles today on half of a 45-litre tank. :) Almost all of that wasn't motorway, too; once I passed Bedford's latitude it felt like most of the miles were added on roundabouts.
The £600 Fiesta is not an interesting car, but it's an absolute champion for something which will be 20 next year and is so cheap they might as well be included with a Happy Meal.
My daughter has become very interested in K-Pop recently and one unexpected delight was the sight of an Austin Montego being hooned through the streets of Barcelona in the video for 'ETA' by NewJeans.
Unfortunately the choice of song and location caused some unintended controversy as in that part of the world, ETA was a prominent terrorist organisation until quite recently.

Very interesting. They mention Jalopnik (automobile site) in the article which many #weirdcarmastodon believe is gone downhill since the acquisition.
Many of the Jalopnik writers jumped ship and started a new ad-free site named The Autopian. The site is funded by reader memberships which I am one of. I think they are still in the red but getting better financially each month.

Day off today, so I finally got around to polishing the faded headlights on the £600 Fiesta (the car I own that actually works). On a whim, earlier this week I picked up some brand new (allegedly) genuine wheel trims to replace the horrible aftermarket ones this came with, so I fitted those too.
It looks better! If I gave it a clean it'd definitely look like a £650 car.

A couple of MG ZRs with a few mods.... A scrap yard at the side of the road, and a cute little truck beside the levada :)
There was also a range rover "classic" with a (I think) vm diesel, judging by the sound and smoke... But I didn't get a decent pic of that in the traffic
An interesting new addition to the garage for a bit.
My brother in law has bought a mk2 Escort and needs the space in his garage, so I'm looking after his MX5 for a while.
(Ulterior motive: I also get to see what owning a small light sportscar feels like. Won't have a go in it till it's dry out, and given Northern Ireland weather, that may be some time)

You could get a BMW i3. It's weird to the point where >50% of other i3 drivers wave when they see one another in traffic (biased source: personal observations). The range extender also allows you to burst past the battery range if/when needed or during power outages. Fuel economy is phenomenal. Major drawback is that road trips are challenging or unfeasible.
Quick quiche break here while I wait for batteries to charge.
I found out why the Princess sill bottom edge had rotted out. Inner sill is lovely and solid and someone in the past left the bottom inch of the original outer sill attached and then SLAPPED A NEW OUTER SILL ON TOP OF IT ALL.
Urgh. I thought I'd ousted all the historic bodges on this car.

EVs are heavy and expensive. We need a car like a mustang or a miata to come on the scene that is affordable and captures the public’s imagination. The mustang was $25k in today’s dollars and the miata was about $30k. So imagine an American made EV that retails for 32.5k-37.5k before discount. Whats the formula that would inspire love and move units?
Pitch me any idea, even bad ones. Can be financially viable or so good it could only lose money.

In case the #Tesla #Cybertruck was just too handsome for you, and you thought, “How can I buy something even uglier, but still kinda looks like the Cybertruck?” Well, my friend, you are in luck.
After a couple months of sitting in the rain with the passenger door unable to close I finally got the #Squareback wedged into the garage!
Now I can take the door off and start prepping it to weld a new hinge on.
It'll also be a lot easier to work on the #fuelInjection without having to deal with the weather!
I just need to get rid of some stuff to make some more room.
Someone on bring a trailer is selling a Daihatsu Midget with a very questionable body kit but the best interior I might have ever seen.
This weekend we will celebrate our anniversary by getting coffee and going for a ride. Someone suggested posting four photos. I like how at the six month anniversary how we went out for a ride at the beginning of the season and enjoyed real life and didn’t spend the day online. Dylan and I and our plus ones will be going for a cruise in real life. I’m hoping to not use my phone much but I am interested to see folks pictures from their cruises. #WeirdCarMastodon
