Getting to the remote Moon River Waterfalls is sometimes quite tricky depending on the water level. On this day we managed to boat to this spot on the river as beyond this point was too treacherous. The water levels were quite high and the falls were wild. The rocky shoals were numerous so we parked and walked as far as we could to this wilderness waterfalls.

One of the most beautiful butterflies is the Eastern (Canadian) Tiger Swallowtail or Papilio glaucus. The male flaunts yellow and black stripes like that of a tiger, is very large and colorful and has a wingspan of 3 - 5 inches.

It took me two trips to the arboretum to get a close up of this tiny Brown Creeper that probes into crevices and picks at the loose bark of trees for insects in the woods. This one was almost at it's nest which was in behind the loose bark of this tree.

#WorldTurtleDay I was thrilled to spot this Northern Map Turtle, a species of concern, on the Shawanaga River Ontario Canada. These Northern Map Turtles, at the slightest hint of danger, slip in to the water. The Map Turtles are a freshwater turtle and the light markings resemble the contours of a map, hence the name.

A wild beaver has been spotted in Pembrokeshire by a couple who were baffled by the machete-like damage to their water-side trees. Thankfully, they're remaining anonymous to protect the beaver (who they've named Antony after the historian Antony Beevor) because DEFRA are usually inclined to remove them.
The #OstrichFern is a very large crown forming native #fern that grows to a height of 90 - 120 cm in forests and wet areas. It is one of the ferns that are #edible and spring is the time to get the #fiddleheads and fry them in a little butter and garlic, so good!
