This is Lopa in what is fast becoming her favourite spot in the garden. She turns up late afternoon as the sun is getting lower in the sky and settles in the middle of the lawn, to the sunny side of the garden. This spring I was sad to hear no starlings had nested in my roof. I usually have a loud nest at both the back & the front. I did wonder if the squirrel that invaded my loft over winter had scared them off.

The good news is, I can finally hear chicks under the roof of my bedroom!

I don't know if it's the old pair doing a second brood in their old home, or a new pair making use of the empty nest. Either way, I've got peep peeps!!

Good reason to conserve them, like here in the Pickney Island National Wildlife Refuge, SC, USA.

I'm sharing this photo I took of two black bears playing for #SilentSunday because that's what I was when I came across them while hiking...I kept perfectly silent and still as they wrestled like I wasn't even there. I'm still not sure if they even saw me. Eventually they curled up for a nap behind a bush.
