Our third announced keynoter is: Kaylea Champion @kaylea, Ph.D. student at the University of Washington researching many things related to free/libre/open source. She is an advocate for women in technology and past SeaGL presenter.
I'm seeing great things posted about the Grace Hopper Women in Tech conference wrapping up today. I've got severe FOMO and might want to attend next year.
But they are going to have to hold it in a state where it is legal for me to pee in a public restroom, and not one that allows state-sponsored hate.
New server, and looking to make new friends.
My name's Megan, originally from Minnesota but living in the UK which is now home. Always something in my mind and will post about it here. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Just looking for a place to call home and connect with others. Gender fluid and exploring the possibility I'm neurospicy. Cosy attitude and a drive to keep learning.

July 18, 1992: The First Photo Uploaded to the Web, of CERN’s All-Girl Science Rock Band "Les Horribles Cernettes" ("The Horrible CERN Girls" in English)
The group sang love songs about colliders, quarks, liquid nitrogen, microwaves, and antimatter in ’60s-inspired outfits.
(the article contains the songs and funny lyrics, it's not that bad! 😀 )

Role Of Women In The Workplace In 2023
The place of women in the workforce has changed substantially over time. Women have historically faced many obstacles and hardships, but with activism and perseverance, they have made great progress. In this essay, we’ll examine the historical development of women in the workforce, the difficulties they still encounter, their successes, and the crucial position they hold in the modern workplace. https://visionessay.com/role-of-women-in-the-workplace-in-2023/

What is the reason behind the lack of widespread interest in IT among both men and women?
Why is there a shortage of skilled labor in such a crucial field today, and why isn't there a surge in the pursuit of technical education?
Who is the minority choosing IT-related fields and why?
A few ppl asked, VIP tickets? Nope, not needed. This year $10 gets you into all the fantastic talks & villages, CTF, etc & breakfast, lunch and some nibbles at the after-party! Now that's a deal! #infosec #informationsecurity #WomenInTech #WomenInSTEM

Karen Sandler is this September’s star of passbolt’s Women In STEM series. 🤩
She’s provided legal counsel to open source foundations, supported several nonprofits, delivers lectures, and helps lead Outreachy, a program for underrepresented individuals in tech. ❤️
👏 Let’s take a moment to celebrate all of her incredible contributions. 🍾
Devs, I have a master's degree and 12 years experience as an embedded software engineer. My boss just hired a certified electrician who took some basic programming classes, put him next to me and gave him the same job title as I have. I had to explain to him that the exclamation mark negates a logical expression and had to help him with using a static variable with conditions dependent on the previous state. What do I even do? I feel offended. At the same time, I don't want to make a big fuss about it because I'm worried they'll just see me as the "complaining woman". I'm otherwise enjoying my job right now, and they're supportive of my ongoing transition so I'd rather not switch jobs, even though I know I probably should. #softwaredevelopment #devs #programming #womenintech
Just announced: A joint Meetup for October! We'll be co-hosting an evening social with #Madison's #WomenInTech group at our downtown library's 3rd floor atrium. Pizza from Ian's and beverages will be provided. No speakers or slides, but there will be a few structured ice-breakers.
New server, new introduction!
I'm Lily, a proud trans lesbian from Denver, a mom of a 12 year old, and am engayged to the love of my life!
I'm a neurodivergent woman in tech working as a Senior SRE at Writer and was previously the admin of outdoors.lgbt and firefish.lgbt
For fun I like to hang out with my kiddo, play guitar, snowboard, go camping, play videogames, hang out at the local lesbian bar, and see whatever kind of trouble my partner @deb and I can get into on the weekends.

One of my favorite moments from this interview: what motivates you in your career?
Coffee. Lots of coffee. ☕️☕️☕️😂
Latest episode of the Women in Tech series from Hamilton Barnes.
@cfiesler My favorite story about women and computing: I was on a group nature trip a few years back. There was a a sub group of 3 women friends among us. People speculated that they were retired nurses, teachers or social workers. When I talked to them, it turned out they were all at Bell Labs helping bring about the the birth of modern computing. #WomenInTech #ComputerHistory

Career started in early 80s, yes I'm old. Always told, "watch out for young ones, they'll take your job soon". There's room for everyone! That's why I never stop learning. Home lab, #honeypots, cloud and more. That's also what #hackersummercamp is all about!
It's not about a badge, or who has more lights (unless it's blinky cat ears) It's about the villages, the talks, the contests and most important, Networking!! Get out, say hi, make a new friend. And if you need a break, take it.
Women are biologically less inclined to work in tech?
I recently wrote an article about #feminist technoscience. A field of study that concerns itself with the bias and perspectives we build into our developments. And discussed how we could balance out the male bias by hiring more women.
Not surprisingly, men felt they had to lecture me on how women are biologically not inclined to be interested in tech 🙄
If you know more about the history of tech, especially programming, you probably find this as absurd as I do.
But not everybody does. Most of the information about women in tech has been removed from the history book. They've become invisible.
This article is my response to this ludicrous claim.
What is your experience with men trying to make you feel unwelcome in this space?

Hello, I'm Megan. :blobcat:
I have a lot of random thoughts, and will likely post them here.
Last year I took the leap into AppSec from a more general Infosec background. This year, I'm looking at security engineering and programming more generally.
