For me it was earbuds with microphones for meetings & technical calls, both #WFH so not disturbing the whole house and in the office as well so a little less obtrusive; the microphone is sensitive enough that I can speak on the call in a quiet voice
(and I can listen to a podcast on my lunchtime walk, etc...)

I used to listen to a lot of #music while #working. Especially while #coding. Over the years I realized it’s better for me to do that either with music I know quite well and have listened to a lot, or music that’s not too interesting (melodically, harmonically, rhythmically, tonally, whatever), so I can focus on my main task instead of getting #distracted by how interesting something is to me musically.

Over the last few months I’m basically only able to focus with white #noise, rarely in silence, though silence with noise cancelling headphones also kind of works, but white noise seems to work the best. I have open back headphones that allow me to both crank up the white noise and still hear my keyboard clacking, which seems to be something I really enjoy as part of the audio background. Plus that way if the cats make an unduly loud noise (usually meaning they’ve broken or are about to break something) I can still hear it and react, which won’t happen with the noise cancelling ones on.

Participating firms saw revenue rise & staff turnover decline.
