[P] I do want to add that I don't disagree with Maasively's position that it's dumb to gate story behind raids & renown. I was never a fan of this design choice. What I vehemently disagree with, however, is that a story is inconsistent if the viewer is unable—due to their own biases—to see the trees for the forest. Yes, I did get that the right way around. If you perceive only homogeneous groups, not diverse persons, you can't call the writing inconsistent for that personal failing.

[P] So "bad writing" to a NT is nuance, a lack of homogeneity, and where a very different entity can—via reason, diplomacy, & compromise—become "us." This is, of course, upsetting as dissimilar == inferior/savage == evil, so having an inferior, savage, and evil dissimilarity join "us" is disquieting. But they can't articulate their hatred of otherness, so they call it "bad writing." NTs have to use some sort of insulting label to express their ire.

Today, Alexstrasza realises that she was used by the titans, and thus no longer has any fondness for them. She'd protect proto-drake eggs, not corrupt them.

So, her personality is that she is an ethical person, but also very pragmatic and logical, which gives her a vulcan-like (Star Trek) quality. I see talk of the lore being poorly-written vis-a-vis Vyranoth and the Incarnates, but that's only true if you think of the Incarnates as a homogeneous group—which they very clearly aren't. [P] What brought this to a head for me? There was a certain dragon in a game who was trying to ease suffering with their power, to save lives, end wars... I related to them as they were an abuse-victim who found such torment abhorrent. I say were, since they were further abused, forced to watch their kids be butchered by the players while trapped, and were then driven to suicide—only for that to be celebrated.

I got myself a Melitta Aromaboy, which is the world's cutest coffee maker.

We have a big beans-to-coffee machine at the office, but I simply don't like the coffee it brews. I want plain old filter coffee without the crèma or roasty espresso taste. I tried a french press, but that gives it an earthy coldbrew-like taste that I also don't like. It also tends to be too cold once it finished brewing. After that, I used the stovetop espresso maker you can actually see in the background. It worked well and tasted great, but it took a bit too long and it tended to give a loud bang as the metal warped due to the heat. I decided I need a regular old filter coffee machine. But an entire filter machine just for one person? Yep, turns out, that totally exists! I got a used one on Ebay and I absolutely love the retro look, but they actually still produce them! It comes in black, white or beige as seen here. ☕

So....I raided ICC last night for the first time!

We didn't beat all the bosses but we got up to professor putricide and wiped a few times there before going back to the Valkyrie boss (easy peasy) to finish the night. Even though we didn't finish and it was slightly stressful, I had a good time. Even got a few small upgrades for my dwarf pally.

Also, I am getting close to maxing out blacksmithing (446/450) and DAMN, it's a grindfest. But I know once I get there it'll be worth it, cause then I could spend like 2-3 hours a week and not have to pay for a WoW subscription.

Say what you want about the WoW token, but for those that prefer to play the game instead of pay the game, it's pretty useful🤣

Having gotten more confident in drawing my druid, I made a proper ref image, after which I got heavily into making stickers.
Then I decided to re-colour them and pack them into Telegram packs in case anyone else wanted them.
For consistency purposes I also made a colour palette for myself, with the base and line colours, and to make sure I knew what was what I made little icons I could use for colour dropping.

Instead, Dragonflight looks like I'm taking my kids to Disneyland. They try to convince me that there's some big bad evil thing lurking behind every corner but come on, look at the scenery. What the fuck is the evil dude doing? Spreading fertilizer and painting trees? 🤦‍♂️

I am a FIRM believer in "graphics aren't everything" but the world is not. You can't give us epic cutscenes of great battles and death and despair, then let me open the game to see Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in full force. It kills the immersion.

So....I joined a WoW WotLK Classic guild about a week ago called "Friends". Things did not go well. Spoiler alert, they definitely aren't friends.

Me and a personal friend joined this guild. Before we even did anything, I explained that I was VERY new and would need pretty much everything explained to me, in terms of raiding and gearing.

Literally the second night I was there, we ran Trial of the Crusader 10 man. It didn't go very well. It took us awhile, but the leaders were not explaining everything well AT ALL.

Then they proceeded to complain that the raid didn't go well in a later discord message.

After seeing a few more days of this, my friend decides to leave the guild while I was in the middle of a mount run with them.

This is where shit hit the fan. After he left, they proceeded to berate and belittle him in a voice chat he wasn't apart of, alongside blasting LFG chat claiming he'd only used them for gear and all this other BS.

Like how childish are you? It's a video game. Grow up.

I need to stop playing multiplayer games.🤦🏻‍♂️

TW: Mild discussion of chronic health issues and grief.

I really miss being able to play MMO's, especially #WoW. I cannot cognitively keep up with worlds like that anymore and it makes me sads.

Everything feels like a job, a chore, a huge undertaking. When I can only spend about an hour a day playing a game (thanks, health)... that's just not it for me anymore. No more long play sessions.

Does anyone else out there feel this sort of grief related to #Illness?

i'm entering stand-up comedy levels with the nonsense from my folks.

on video just now, mom asked me if i had made any new art. i said "no. no inspiration lately" and she jumped in with "WHY NOT?!"

it was sooo outrageous that i just started heckling her. i was like "seriously?! 'why not'??? it's inspiration, what am i supposed to do about it?? and when was the last time *you* got yourself out of an inspiration drought? yea, i thought not!" and she started laughing. she said: "i wasn't *blaming* you, i was just saying that it's a problem and how are you dealing with it" (which is...certainly one way of approaching things....)

later in the call, she sadly told me that today it was raining and 65F (they just had a horrible heat wave with multiple days of 100+ temperatures). i responded "but you're probably pretty grateful to be out of that extreme heat..?" and she went "ehhhh..." so i started heckling her again haha "you wanna go back to 104??" and she went "nooooo, like....83....but anything below that and i get coooold!" i was just speechless lol. so ungrateful, it's remarkable. no wonder she's never satisfied!

but at least this time it was funny and not sad or grumpy. maybe heckling is the answer. just make fun of them if they say ridiculous things to you!

In #MacOS 14 #Sonoma when playing a#VideoGame, a special mode called gaming mode will kick in, theoretically improving the game’s performance. It would be all cool and neat if not for the fact that when the game’s window is frontmost, all notifications that go through the system’s Notification Center like Messages, FaceTime and Mail get silenced. Not only their sound, but also the banners that they generate, and so VoiceOver does not react hem. I have Ogot to the menu bar and turned off the gaming mode, however it didn’t help and I still don’t get notifications. I mean, my guild mates and dungeon mates from #WoW and even myself benefit from it, but there are 2 (two) people I always want to get notifications from. Is there a way I can do it somehow?
