Is #Youtube sillently making the playlist disapear..? can someone else test that and see if it's true?
I can't seem to get *any* playlists to come up like they use to even when I specifically type playlist, all I seem to get in resualts are hour long videos of game music. Why are they doing this? This only started happenin to me last night.
Can't even get a simple Crash Bandicoot playlist anymore on my the smart tv app version of Youtube either like I use use to be able to do. Are all these channels suddenly removing their playlists or is Youtube doing something.

So one of the things that pisses me off about #socialmedia is the lack of #attribution. Do you know how many times I see #Instagram posts which are screenshots of tweets or tweets which are videos from #TikTok. The developers have the ability to make it so their software automatically searches and finds the source. Look at #YouTube for an example, but they won't. It's the same with #memes, you see people reposting memes when it should link to the original.

Hey @Vivaldi, how impossible would it be to have a "full screen video" option where the side panel stays visible? Various video platforms like #PeerTube and #YouTube have "Theater Modes", which expands how large the video is, but there's still "stuff" around the edges. When I'm watching something like Google I/O or WWDC, or really any live video, I like to keep a panel visible to watch tagged posts on social media (Mastodon for me, but any panel is good). Nothing seems to do this.
The videos #Youtube is suggesting are deteriorating in quality (I’m currently at the ‘Neil deGrasse Tyson: "Betelgeuse JUST Exploded & Something TERRIFYING Is Happening!"’ level) across the board, pushing out any accounts I actively follow and official news channels. I can tell it is getting worse over the last couple of weeks.
I’m not even mad, just sad. This for real is “why we can’t have nice things”.

Who really really controls the #internet
No it's not #Microsoft. Microsoft mostly makes products like #Xbox, #microsoftword, they don't really do much to control the internet as a whole despite being the owner of the largest computer os on the market and owning Bing. You can mostly say that #Google is the main ruler of what goes on the internet and what doesn't. They own #Youtube and Google do you know anyone else that's any bigger then that and has more then just one app dominating everyone else. (looking at just #Tiktok.)
Define internet: the transfer of data over the lines or something like that.
Define data: could be apps, images, games, videos, text, code, web pages.. stuff like that.
Besides the internet provider, who do you have to go through first to get the data transfered to you?
1. The search engine. As it doesn't usally tend to matter what web browser you generally use it doesn't determine what websites you can access. (javascript issues of said website on the browser is a different story.)
define search engine: searching on the web for web pages, indexing the sites pages in a easier way to access then having to rememeber the sites ip address.
2. The #appstore If you want an app that's not preinstalled, better hope #Apple will carry it, or/and the Google Play Store.
3. Video streaming. Want to download a video clip, or stream something. That streaming app or website might not always be able to provide that whether it be for their own choices, #copyright better hope that platform has your interests.
4. Games. It use to be gaming wasn't really too big on the internet with company's like Nintendo ignoring it originally. Now adays you can get the game from app stores, or video game console marketplaces, or pirate websites, or legit websites. If you want a specific title, best to hope the store fronts will offer it and continue to offer it. (Looking at Nintendo *and* Sony. Microsoft actually does pretty good on this.)

I am absolutely certain there's keyboard shortcut for changing #Youtube closed captions size, because I must have hit it by accident (since I did not, in fact, click into a sub-menu I didn't know was there to change the size to 50%) but I can't find any documentation on it, even in the well-hidden places where sparse & incomplete info on other shortcuts is found.
Because for some reason YT has decided to enable a host of hotkeys, then go out of their way to keep anyone from knowing them.
Now that the PC version plays...okay, I can finally get my Jedi on.

I've been writing a lot over the last few days that has been extremely critical of #Google's decision to permit dangerous U.S. election denial videos to return to #YouTube. I won't rehash the specifics here, you no doubt know them all too well by now, other than to say that I am calling for a reversal of this decision and that I consider this to be of paramount importance, especially right now.
I still consider myself to be a friend of Google. There are great people there (it's people that matter most at any firm) and Google remains a incredibly important company that serves billions of persons.
However, I do strongly feel that Google has been making a series of very poor decisions lately, and I will continue to call these out as appropriate.
I am not a Google hater. I want Google to succeed, and I want their users and the public at large to be confident that Google has their interests at heart as well as Google's own corporate concerns.
We are in a very complex and hazardous political, competitive, and social environment, and I would not assert that navigating this is simple or straightforward for any firm.
But Google does have the resources to do this ethically and responsibly -- IF its executives choose to do so. -L

A persistent friend of mine keeps asking me (I've lost count!) who made the decision to permit election denial videos back on #YouTube -- the exact content that triggered the violent uprising and insurrection on Jan 6, and that nearly cost us our democracy -- a ban which YouTube has NOT reversed regarding elections in other countries! (I'll note here that irrespective of any possible legal requirements in this regard associated with other countries, reversing the ban only in the U.S. gives the clear impression that election denial associated violence only really matters to #Google *outside* the U.S.)
I don't know the specific answer about the exact person or persons involved in the decision, and frankly I don't think that's the most important issue (though yes, it does matter, of course). But what matters much more is that this terrible decision is reversed before horrific new damage is done, which Google will be responsible for.
I will say this. Even without any specific knowledge, I would make the assumption that such a controversial decision would likely have pushed up to either the CEO of YouTube or Google -- and likely both. If not, it should have!
Because they are the ones who are going to ultimately have to deal with the aftermath of new election denial videos that will flood the YouTube platform and perhaps incite even more violence in the future, unless these executives take the wise and only ethical choice, and reverse this decision before that new damage has a chance to take hold on their servers, along with a public perception that Google can no longer be trusted as a custodian of our important societal values and personal data. -L

I'm afraid I'm not experienced enough with those situations to comment on that intelligently.
I just know that prior to getting on Mastodon, I always had to first post my #voiceover sample files on #SoundCloud, or be tech savvy enough (and have ample time) to create #YouTube videos for each of them, before posting to social media.
Now, I can just post my existing #voiceacting samples directly to my toots.🎙️🐘

It appears that Google is much more concerned about other countries' election integrity than they are about our own, where election lies triggered an insurrection.

The decision for #YouTube to allow 2020 election disinformation denial videos, a decision already being celebrated among the supporters of the Jan 6 insurrection, is in my opinion the single worst and likely most negatively consequential decision in the history of #Google.

So I'm being asked why #Google has been making these awful, ultimately self-destructive decisions lately (most recently, now permitting 2020 election denial videos to return on #YouTube, which many observers, including myself, feel could lead to new violence as they did for the Jan 6th insurrection).
I can't get into the minds of the "well-bonused" Google C-suite.
However, I think it's fairly clear that they're in a panic. The political, regulatory, and competitive landscapes are shifting beneath their feet. They know the fate of other large tech firms that went from forces of nature to nothing in a matter of a handful of years. They don't want to vanish into the ether like those others did.
They see the current situation as an existential threat. And like so many past executives at so many firms who were in a panic, they're making mainly short-term decisions out of fear, that are setting the stage for even more problems and instability down the line.
As I've said before, this does not bode well for Google, its employees, its TVCs, its users, or the world at large that all depend on Google to such an enormous degree.
And I find this all to be extremely sad. -L

Just FYI, I'm hearing from numerous Googlers I know who are absolutely dismayed and embarrassed by the decision to permit 2020 election fraud videos back on #YouTube. These denials led directly to the Jan 6 insurrection and the violence that resulted -- not to mention almost destroying our democracy -- and they feel, as do I, that Google's claim that this is just ordinary political speech is self-serving, hypocritical, and vastly dangerous.
Google has been making a series of serious unforced errors lately in this toxic political environment. This does not bode well for its future, for its users, or for the world at large. I find this extremely distressing. -L

Google is adding AI metadata to Shorts, but creators and viewers won't be able to see it. It's just to help Shorts show up better in search.
Apparently, I am unusual in adding a title and description to my Shorts. Most people don't do it.
And I can see why. It takes me longer to do those parts (plus captions) than to make the videos. Those are the annoying parts that usually keep me from making videos.
